Pausing a graphic processing operation in order to continue processing a thread on a different desktop. When a graphic processing unit (GPU) is lost when a screen saver desktop is activated, the buffer containing the video frame that is currently being processed is discarded and a device is attempted to be created on the screen saver desktop which enables continued graphic processing.

Abstract:

Enabling efficient navigation of a playlist of media files stored on a computer-readable medium. Aspects of the invention define a playlist structure to have one or more playlist units. Each playlist unit identifies one or more media files in the playlist and includes metadata for the media files. A consumer electronic device retrieves the playlist units and displays the metadata contained therein to a user to enable navigation of the playlist. Aspects of the invention reduce the memory requirements of the consumer electronic devices and reduce the quantity of disk seek operations needed for playlist navigation.

Aspects of the invention associate a playlist type or other code with each playlist to define the structure of the playlist. Video editing and video playback utilizing a render-ahead queue for storing rendered video frames. The render-ahead queue facilitates the smooth playback of video in forward and reverse timeline direction, avoiding video glitches that occur when video frames are rendered at a rate that is less than the timeline rate of the video file. Abstract:

Described is a technology by which private content maintained behind a firewall (e. g. , in a “mesh”) may be searched, browsed, and accessed via an index that exists outside of the firewall. Searching of the index may include checking permissions of a user against permissions associated with metadata in the index, e. g. , per watch folder into which file content is added. When content is selected, e. g. , by clicking on a search result, a request is made. An application polls for such requests, and when detected, pushes a copy of the content through the firewall to the requester. The search may be performed over more than one index, with aggregated search results returned.
