Pausing a graphic processing operation in order to continue processing a thread on a different desktop. When a graphic processing unit (GPU) is lost when a screen saver desktop is activated, the buffer containing the video frame that is currently being processed is discarded and a device is attempted to be created on the screen saver desktop which enables continued graphic processing.

Abstract:

Enabling efficient navigation of a playlist of media files stored on a computer-readable medium. Aspects of the invention define a playlist structure to have one or more playlist units. Each playlist unit identifies one or more media files in the playlist and includes metadata for the media files. A consumer electronic device retrieves the playlist units and displays the metadata contained therein to a user to enable navigation of the playlist. A prepaid payment device is used to by a consumer as a ticket to a future performance event as well as to conduct a transaction with a merchant. The consumer operates a user interface of a kiosk to select admission to the future performance event and a monetary amount to be added thereto.
