A recessed light fixture with body, reflector and electrical box formed as one piece, preferably of a polymeric material. The fixture includes a self-mounting feature and a seal against air infiltration into unconditioned spaces. The reflector has special geometry that provides symmetrical distribution of light. The lamp socket tilts downward to facilitate lamp changes. The design moves the heat sensitive components of the electronic ballast far from the heat produced by the lamp. The fixture may be installed from the occupied side of the room, eliminating the need for an installer to crawl in attic spaces.
Temperature Measurement System For A Light Emitting Diode (Led) Assembly

A temperature measurement system is provided for a light emitting diode (LED) assembly that includes an LED having two semiconductors joined together at an LED junction. The system includes a temperature sensor operatively connected to the LED assembly at a remote location that is remote from the LED junction. The temperature sensor is configured to measure a temperature of the LED assembly at the remote location. A temperature calculation module is operatively connected to the temperature sensor for receiving the measured temperature at the remote location from the temperature sensor. The temperature calculation module is configured to determine a junction temperature at the LED junction based on the measured temperature a the remote location.

Abstract:
A light module includes a light engine that has an LED package having power terminals. A base ring assembly holds the light engine. The base ring assembly has a base ring configured to be mounted to a supporting structure. The base ring has a securing feature. The base ring assembly has a contact holder that holds power contacts. The power contacts are spring biased against the power terminals to create a separable power connection with the power terminals. A top cover assembly is coupled to the base ring. The top cover assembly has a collar surrounding the base ring. The top cover assembly has a securing feature that engages the securing feature of the base ring to couple the collar to the base ring. The collar has a cavity and the optical component is received in the cavity. The optical component is positioned to receive light from the LED package and the optical component is configured to emit the light generated by the LED package.
Convection Venting Lensed Reflector-Type Compact Fluorescent Lamp System

International Classification:
F21V 2900
US Classification:

Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a fluorescent lamp housing assembly capable of providing convection cooling to the lamp and the ballast. The lens of the present invention includes two distinct portions, a central portion and an apertured portion. The housing assembly further includes apertures so that air mass is able to freely move up through the assembly and out ventilation apertures.
A lighting system using a PL fluorescent lamp which is capable of screwing into a standard electrical lamp socket utilizing a base member possessing a mechanism for mechanically supporting a PL fluorescent lamp. A male fitting is connected to the base member and includes an outer surface which may be threaded in configuration. An adaptor is also used in the present system and is capable of mechanically and electrically connecting to a standard Edison electrical lamp socket. The adaptor includes an external threaded outer surface for threadingly engaging the standard Edison lamp socket, and also includes an inner surface in the form of a lamp socket. The inner surface lamp socket of the adaptor is capable of mechanically and electrically contacting the outer surface of the male fitting. The adaptor inner lamp socket and male fitting are of a non-standard size. The adaptor locks into the standard Edison electrical lamp socket, preventing its usage by standard incandescent lamp bases.

Abstract:
An arrangement for switchably operating one or more gas discharge lamps, such a compact or circline fluorescent lamps, with a single ballast commonly used with a linear fluorescent lamp. One or more capacitors is either in parallel or in series with the gas discharge lamp. When engaged by a switch, the capacitor either shunts or reduces the current to the gas discharge lamp in a manner which allows appropriate starting voltage, appropriate operating current and a plurality of illumination levels of the gas discharge lamp.

Abstract:
A shell form ballast has rounded corners for positioning inside a ballast housing for use with a fluorescent light bulb adapter. The ballast has rounded outer corners to meet both long-term life and power requirements, and spatial design constraints of a fluorescent lamp adapter assembly for use in an incandescent lighting fixture, and particularly for use in a recessed incandescent lighting fixture. The rounded outer corners of the ballast provide the ability for the shell form ballast to fit into a hollow housing for use in the recessed lighting fixture while simultaneously providing the shell form ballast a snug fit in the hollow housing, thereby minimizing gap growth.

Abstract:
An outboard ballast which allows a compact fluorescent light bulb and its associated ballast to be positioned within a standard table lamp having a standard-size harp. The ballast is divided into separate sections so that the sections and their housing can extend into an area beyond the harp and below the socket of the lamp fixture. A three-way switch circuit is provided to be adaptable with common table lamp fixtures. The configuration of the present invention provides security features.
