A method for efficiently removing vapor-phase contaminants from gas streams is described. A powdered adsorbent such as activated carbon is ground into a fine powder by wet grinding to form a slurry. Chemicals are added to the slurry to impregnate the sorbent to enhance sorbent effectiveness. The slurry chemical mixture is sprayed into the gas stream in the form of small droplets which evaporate to produce an aerosol of fine adsorbent particles. Vapor-phase contaminants in the gas stream adsorb onto the fine adsorbent particle surfaces and the adsorbent particles are removed from the gas stream by a conventional particle collection method.

Abstract:
A continuous filtration system for supplying an uninterrupted supply of filtrate from a solids-containing industrial process suitable for use by on-line automatic analyzers is provided. The continuous filtration system, which is particularly useful for filtering flue gas desulfurization process slurry to produce a solids-free filtrate for autoanalysis, includes a pair of filters connected in series which concurrently receive a tangential flow of slurry into the filter head that is discharged perpendicularly through a filtrate head. An automatic flushing system is provided to keep the filter membranes free of solid particles. An optional autoanalyzer for unfiltered slurry may also be included in the system.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of evaluating a meat sample by measuring electricity conducted from water in the meat sample and correlating the evaluation to a property of the meat sample. The water forms (e.g., free water, immobilized water, and bound water) can be evaluated by measuring electricity conducted from water in the meat sample. The property of the meat sample can include, without limitation, a color of the meat sample, or a tenderness of the meat sample.
