Abstract:

A method and system for providing portions of information content to a client device is presented. The present application provides a manner of personalizing information content for display on handheld or mobile devices. A user may identify sections of a web page as clips, and then request only the identified section instead of the entire web page from a server. Upon receiving the request, the server will load the web page, retrieve the identified section, transform the identified section for display on the client device, and then send the transformed information to the client device. The clip of information is then a live update from a web page that presents the latest content from a web page instead of a cached web page section.

Abstract:

A system and method for using multipart messaging with preset constraints is provided. A device sends a request to a server for information from a website. The server retrieves the information and looks for referenced subdocuments, e.g., images. The server requests the images one-by-one from servers for a predetermined amount of time, or until a predetermined amount of content has been retrieved. Once the limit has been met, the server attaches the images to the document and sends the information to the device. Thus, the server may send a portion of the requested information to the device. The device then sends subsequent page requests for any information that was not received from the server. Using this system, the device can receive a faster first impression of the web page, without a performance delay waiting for all images of the web page to be retrieved and loaded.

Abstract:

Methods and systems for processing document object models (DOM) and to process video content are provided. Information content that is represented by a DOM and that includes a scripting language associated with the information content is received and original content of the DOM is preserved after execution of the scripting language. Further, video content is adapted for client devices. The scripting language associated with the information content can be sent to client device along with a modified DOM and processed video content. Pre-processing of the scripting language occurs to identify nodes related to video, and to maintain all other original nodes, for example.
