Abstract:
A modular wheeled suspension system which may be actuated to move a cargo holding deck or vehicle frame between a ground engaging load position to facilitate the loading of cargo and a transport position out of contact with the ground is provided. An adjustable telescoping frame for the cargo holding deck is further provided to accommodate loads of different sizes. The suspension system employs an arrangement of air bags supported between pivoted bracket elements located adjacent to the vehicle wheels and an air supply system with an automatic locking arrangement to allow the deck or frame to be lowered to a ground engaging load position and maintained in the load position until loading has been completed and the frame or deck raised to the transport position.

Abstract:
A modular wheel assembly adapted to be mounted in parallel pairs on a vehicle having a load bearing bed, wherein each modular wheel assembly includes a wheel disposed on an axle, and further employs an air bag suspension system, including upper and lower brackets, the upper one of which is secured to the vehicle and the lower one of which is mounted to the axle by means of an intermediate link, and the modular wheel assembly being so configured that deflation of the air bag results in a lowering of the upper bracket below the axle of the wheel.
A dolly for lifting one end of a vehicle and for towing the vehicle includes a pair of identical tandem wheel assemblies interconnected by a pair of spaced parallel steel tubes. At least one of the wheel assemblies includes a hydraulic piston which, in spreading one pair of arms on crank members coupled to the wheel assemblies, forces together the second pair of arms. The ends of the spaced parallel steel tubes are coupled into sockets on the ends of the second pair of arms so that their forcing together operates to lift a vehicle whose tires are resting across the steel tubes. The invention includes means for locking the tubes in their raised position and further includes vehicle wheel locking plates that are actuated by the lifting process.
A vehicle jack and dolly for quickly and easily raising the vehicle includes a support which is slipped around the bottom of the tire from the side of the vehicle, pivot bars and axles that are parallel to, spaced from and rotatable around the pivot bar. Short bars extending from the axles may be forced downward to rotate the axles and lift the vehicle to the point where a hook drops in place to lock it. The axles have small wheels so that two dollies may be used on two opposite wheels to move the vehicle.
