A system and method for receiving voice mail messages as a text-based email message or a facsimile transmission are presented. When a voice mail message is received from a calling party, the voice mail message is recorded into mass memory. Later, when the called party seeks to retrieve the called partys voice mail messages, the message can be converted to text and sent as either an email message to a designated email address or a facsimile transmission to a designated facsimile number. Additionally, a subscriber is able to record a message and have the recorded message converted to text and sent to a designated email address or facsimile number.

Abstract:
A stand-up trash retrieving and dumping device includes an elongated, tubular handle member and a flat spatula member attached to one end of the handle member and forming an obtuse angle with respect thereto. An elongated, flat, arm element has one end pivotally connected to the spatula member adjacent the one end of the handle member for pivotal movement between closed and open positions. The other end of the arm element is adapted to engage the spatula member in the closed position thereof and the arm element has an outwardly curved portion between its ends for grasping an enlarged object. The arm element has an enlarged hook portion integral with its outer end adapted to engage an abutment thereby to move the arm element to its open position. An elongated flexible element has one end connected to the hook portion and extends through part of the handle member. A finger hook member is attached to the other end of the flexible element and extends outwardly through a slot in the side wall of the handle member adjacent its other end.

Abstract:
A retractable trash spear device comprises an elongated tubular handle member having opposite ends with an elongated rod element therein having a pointed end and being axially movable between an extended position with the pointed end projecting from one end of the handle member and a fully retracted position with the pointed end completely within the handle member. The handle member has an elongated slot formed therein adjacent its other end, and a manual actuating element is adjustably attached to the rod element and extends out of the slot for selectively moving the rod element between its retracted and extended positions. A coil spring in the handle member surrounding the rod element biases the rod element towards its retracted position. The lower end of the slot in the handle member has a right angle extension thereon for holding the actuating element thereby to hold the rod element in its extended position.
