Abstract:

A method and system for treating emissions includes charging particles in an exhaust stream, producing one or more radicals, and oxidizing at least a portion of the charged particles with at least a portion of the produced radicals. At least a portion of the charged particles in the exhaust stream are then attracted on at least one attraction surface which is one of oppositely charged from the charged particles and grounded. The attracted particles are oxidized with another portion of the one or more produced radicals to self regenerate the at least one attraction surface. Downstream from where the attracted particles are oxidized, at least a portion of one or more first compounds in the exhaust stream are converted to one or more second compounds downstream from the attracting. Additionally, at least a portion of any remaining charged particles are oxidized into one or more gases.

Abstract:

A rear-view system for a vehicle has a camera disposed on the vehicle. An electronic control unit receives and processes the image information from the camera. A display displays the processed image information from the electronic control unit. An alarm is operated by the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is used to detect an object from the processed image information. If the distance between the vehicle and the object is less than a predetermined distance, the electronic control unit will activate the alarm.

Abstract:

A hybrid-electric vehicle carries batteries for storing reserve electrical power. The batteries have a state of charge which is monitored by a control system. The state of charge indicates the amount of reserve electrical power available and, under some conditions, the rate at which reserve electrical power can be sourced as electric current. The vehicle further includes an internal combustion engine which can, depending upon vehicle configuration, be used to propel the vehicle, to drive an electrical machine to source electric current for storage, or to drive the electrical machine to source electric current to power a traction motor(s). The control system provides, in response to operator requests for propulsion and in response to the state of charge of the batteries, for allocating available power between propulsion and battery charging.
