Abstract:

An orthopedic brace is provided having a pliable pad and a rigid support member. The pad is fabricated from a laminate and has an integrally formed raised region and mesh section The mesh section has a plurality of void spaces extending through the laminate which freely permit air flow therethrough. The support member has an open ventilation window extending through it which freely permits air flow therethrough. The support member overlays the pad with the ventilation window aligned with the underlying mesh section to freely permit air flow through the support member and pad via the aligned ventilation window and mesh section.

Abstract:

An improved orthopedic head pillow enables a user to maintain correct spinal alignment while sleeping in a variety of positions. The pillow has a stuffed resilient body formed from cloth cover having a generally rectangular central aperture. For one embodiment, pillow dimensions are about 48 cm by 76 cm, with a 10 cm by 15 cm central aperture that is aligned so that its longitudinal axis is aligned with the pillow's lateral axis of symmetry. For back sleepers, the back of the head is cushioned by the edges of the aperture yet positioned at mattress level. Side sleepers can use either side portion of the pillow to the side of the aperture, with the head being centered on the side portion and the face facing either the aperture or the edge of the pillow. Stomach sleepers can place the side of the face on a downward slope adjacent the aperture.

Abstract:

A heat transfer pad includes a pad inlet port for feeding a heat transfer fluid to the pad, a pad outlet port for discharging the heat transfer fluid from the pad and a bladder having an internal flowpath for the heat transfer fluid which extends from the pad inlet port to the pad outlet port. The internal flowpath is divided into a first flow channel and a second flow channel through which first and second flow streams of the heat transfer fluid, respectively, flow between the pad inlet and outlet ports. A first flow restrictor is positioned downstream in the first flow channel and a second flow restrictor is correspondingly positioned downstream in the second flow channel and the flow restrictors are configured to create substantial back pressures in the first and second flow channels, respectively.

Abstract:

A disclosed backpack chair includes a bag comprising a top piece, a back piece, two symmetric side pieces, an apron and a bottom piece sewn together like a hooded vest and zippered up a front center thereof with a perimeter of the bottom piece to form the bag. A tri zipper track and a penta slider pull connects a perimeter of the two equal side pieces to a perimeter of the head piece and to perimeter of the bottom piece to form the bag. The backpack chair also includes suspension pockets at reinforced corners of the bag to receive collapsible pole members of a suspending structure. The backpack chair further includes at least one strap detachably connected to the bag to allow the bag to be carried on a user's back, a user's shoulder and in a user's hand or crook of a user's arm or around a user's waist.
