Abstract:

Apparatuses, systems and processes for fluid gasification and degasification are disclosed. A fluid gasification/degasification apparatus includes housing having a central axis and at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet positioned at different axial locations along the housing. A membrane unit that includes a plurality of bundled microporous hollow membrane strands is disposed within the housing and extends in parallel to the central axis of the housing. The fluid gasification/degasification apparatus further includes one or more gas addition/removal apparatuses for facilitating at least one of: a gas addition operation and a gas removal operation. An orientation of the fluid inlet(s) and fluid outlet(s) results in a substantial portion of a carrier fluid introduced to the housing traveling in parallel along exterior surfaces of the membrane unit thereby allowing for an extended interface time between the carrier fluid and micro-bubbles of a gas supplied to the membrane unit.

Abstract:

A passive anti-clogging device for feeding water into marine jet pumps, which displaces the laminar flow around the trailing surfaces of the intake port, such that foreign debris and grass are precluded from clogging the intake to the jet pump. The primary component of the invention comprises an exclusion plate that is placed in, or immediately below the intake port, and affixed to the breadth of, or becoming a part of, the trailing edge of the intake port, leaving an opening, or slot, between the exclusion plate and ride plate, or bottom of the vessel, which, when at rest, allows the passage of water only from its anterior and lateral extents, thereby excluding the flow of water into the device from directly below or behind the plate. The edge of the exclusion plate angles or curves from a forward central point or apex to a back point at the trailing edge of the intake port, providing a fair surface to resist laminar attachment of debris, marine vegetation or other debris.

Abstract:

Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for purifying produced water. The system comprises: a closed loop cation exchange unit, wherein the cation exchange unit comprises a cation resin bed; a closed loop anion exchange unit, wherein the anion exchange unit comprises an anion resin bed; an intermediate degasifer, wherein the cation exchange unit and the anion exchange unit are connected in series through the intermediate degasifier, wherein each of the exchange units further comprises a plurality of treatment zones, wherein the treatment zones comprise at least an adsorption zone, a rinse zone, a regeneration zone and a pulsing zone and a backwash zone; and a rinse tail outlet collector for collecting and removing the rinse fluids from the rinse zone.
