  • Abstract:
The present invention relates to systems, methods, and devices for treating the effects of menopause. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention relate to systems, methods, and devices used while sleeping for automatically detecting an imminent hot flash and for preventing and/or controlling the symptoms associated with hot flashes, such as an elevated body temperature, sweating and/or chills so that the person using the system remains sleeping and is not disturbed by the hot flash onset. Preferred embodiments include an automated body cooling system comprising: an elongated cloth bag comprising a lower open-ended chamber for enveloping a person's body and an upper closed chamber for receiving a flow of air from a fan; a fan operably connected with the upper chamber of the bag to provide a stream of air into the bag for over inflating the bag to provide positive pressure; a sensor for detecting at least one of relative humidity, skin temperature, or sternal skin conductance information; and a control module in operable communication with the sensor for receiving and processing the information from the sensor and for turning the fan on and off in response to the information received being above or below a desired set point.
