The present invention relates to cosmetic compositions that comprise a safe and effective amount of a bonding agent comprising trans structure wherein X represents a cosmetic benefit agent, L represents an optional chemical linker between X and a remainder of the bonding agent; and R represents an activating electron withdrawing group; and a cosmetically acceptable carrier for the bonding agent wherein the composition is administered topically to mammalian proteinaceous substrates and wherein the bonding agent reacts with a protein contained in the substrate such that the bonding agent, and thus the cosmetic benefit agent, is covalently attached to the substrate. The invention further relates to methods of using the compositions described above as well as various products that include the claimed compositions.
Topical Composition Comprising A Substituted Cosmetic Bonding Agent
The present invention relates to cosmetic compositions that comprise a safe and effective amount of a bonding agent comprising the structure wherein X represents a cosmetic benefit agent; L represents an optional chemical linker; and R represents a hydrocarbon chain that optionally contains heteroatoms; and a cosmetically acceptable carrier for the bonding agent wherein the composition is administered topically to a mammalian proteinaceous substrate and wherein the bonding agent reacts with a protein contained in the substrate such that the bonding agent is covalently attached to the substrate. The invention further relates to methods of using the compositions described above as well as various products that include the claimed compositions.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a personal care composition comprising a three dimensional gel polymeric network comprising: a. a polymer; b. one or more solid particles that are entrapped within said polymer during polymerization of said polymer; and c. a solvent in which said polymer is dispersed. Another embodiment further includes at least one second colorant that is substantially similar to an at least one first colorant which is a solid particle and wherein said second colorant is dispersed within said composition but is not entrapped in said polymer and is separate and distinct from said network. In contrast, a third embodiment allows for the at least one second colorant to be substantially different from the at least one first colorant.
Cosmetic Compositions Comprising Colorants With Low Free Dye

Assignee:
The Procter & Gamble Company - Cincinnati OH
International Classification:
A61K 8/19
US Classification:
424063000
Abstract:
Cosmetic compositions suitable for changing the appearance of keratinaceous substances, such as mammalian skin, hair, and nails. The compositions comprise an encapsulated colorant having a high encapsulation efficiency, which mitigates colorant staining of the keratinaceous substance, and a particle size that yields the desired color.
