Abstract:
A hand-operable system for ejecting a fluid composition into an eye, the system comprises: (1) a container having a container opening and containing the fluid composition; (2) a double-acting pump mechanism securely disposed over the container opening; and (3) an actuator that is disposed over, and extends radially outward from, said pump mechanism, for actuating the pump mechanism by applying a force thereon, wherein said pump mechanism comprises a passage for said fluid composition, and said passage is positively sealed off when the application of said force is discontinued.

Abstract:
A suture package is disclosed which is formed of a plurality of panels foldably connected to each other and arranged to fold upon each other to form a suture compartment between pairs of adjacent panels. A generally planar insert member includes portions cut out and lifted from the plane of the insert, respective pluralities of the cut portions being dimensioned and positioned to engage respective portions of a plurality of suture needles positioned thereon to retain the needles in respective fixed spaced positions within the package such that the needles are positioned in one needle compartment and individual flexible suture portions connected to the needles are respectively positioned in individual compartments formed by the remaining adjacent folded panels. In one embodiment portions of certain panels are cut away to reduce the girth of the folded package when loaded. Such portions may either be circular cut-outs or may be provided by dimensioning the length of certain panels less than the others.

Abstract:
A suture display rack and procedure kit is provided which, upon folding, presents a plurality of stacked suture packages for seriatim review. The suture display rack is a substantially U-shaped structure with a floor portion and two opposing sidewall portions. A longitudinal fold line is provided in the floor portion parallel to the planes formed by the side walls such that, upon folding, the side wall portions may be brought into the same horizontal plane to form the base for the suture display rack. The suture packages may be loosely held in the rack or alternatively hinged to a side wall or contained in sheaths for ease of review and removal. The sheaths and suture packages can be sterilized separately from the display rack. The suture display rack may be securely adhered to a desired surface or may be set up in a portable manner.

Abstract:
A suture retainer is provided with an arrangement of suture-retaining tabs of complex configuration and needle-retaining tabs of a number and distribution which enable the retainer to accommodate any one of several types of combined surgical suture-needle devices.
A suture package for storing a plurality of sutures is disclosed. The package includes a plurality of panel members foldably connected to each other and arranged to fold onto each other to form a plurality of suture compartments for storing an individual suture therein. The package also includes an enclosure card defining at least two card portions. One of the card portions of the enclosure card includes a plurality of tabs and apertures for securing the needled ends of the sutures. The card portions are adapted to fold onto each other to define a compartment to accommodate the folded suture panel members.

Abstract:
A package for surgical sutures and suture-needle assemblies which includes a series of panels foldable about each other to enclose the sutures in an unfolded and elongated condition.
A resilient filament retaining package includes a plurality of panel members foldably connected to each other along transverse sides thereof and arranged to fold upon each other to form a plurality of superposed compartments defined between pairs of adjacent panel members. Each compartment is dimensioned to contain at least one flexible resilient filament portion therein in a coiled configuration. Receiving port apertures are provided in the forward panel member of each compartment and are intended to assist in loading individual filament portions in each compartment. The apertures are in general concentric alignment with each other such that each compartment may be accessed for loading purposes from a front side of the folded retainer package. A backing panel having a needle securing park may be attached to the folded package. A method for loading the package is also disclosed.
