Abstract:

One embodiment of the invention provides a turbine control system that adjusts the control thresholds of two-position valves, which provide propellant to the turbine, based on turbine load so as to compensate for increased turbine speed overshoot at low load and the increased turbine speed undershoot at high load. These two-position on-off modulated valves are used in a bang-bang (fully open or fully closed) regulation scheme to eliminate or minimize speed droop by using variable speed bounds implemented as a function of load.

Abstract:

Hand hygiene apparatuses and methods for monitoring hand hygiene and for dispensing hand soap or hand sanitizers. An illustrative hand hygiene apparatus includes a computer, a database stored on the computer, a biometric sensor operatively coupled to the computer, a hand hygiene dispenser operatively coupled to the computer, and a hand soap or hand sanitizer disposed adjacent to the hand hygiene dispenser. The database might include a collection of partial biometric data for a group of persons. An illustrative method may include collecting a set of partial biometric data, providing a biometric sensing apparatus and a hand hygiene dispenser coupled to the biometric sensing apparatus, sensing biometric data from a first individual from the group of persons with the biometric sensing apparatus, identifying the first individual by comparing the sensed biometric data with the set of partial biometric data, and dispensing a hand soap or hand sanitizer from the hand hygiene dispenser onto the hands of the first individual.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to an air valve switch of an air brad nailer which includes a valve block, a valve shaft, a compression spring and two sealing rings. The valve block contains an axial through hole and a plurality of guide holes. A hindering rim is situated in the through hole so that the valve shaft can be plugged from the rear side of the through hole of the valve block into the front side thereof. Moreover, a thickened section rests against the hindering rim inside the through hole. And the compression spring is installed at the rear end of the valve shaft.

Abstract:

A low profile slot antenna is provided which includes first and second oppositely disposed metallic plates with a dielectric layer disposed therebetween. An array of horizontal and vertical radiating elements are formed in the first metallic plate. An array of horizontal coupling slots and an array of vertical coupling slots are formed in the second metallic plate. The antenna further includes a planar feed network electrically coupled to the coupling slots. The feed network is connected to a conductive waveguide tube located at the central portion of the antenna. Orthogonal probes couple the waveguide tube to a transceiver. Accordingly, the slot antenna may operate to transmit and receive linearly polarized energy. The antenna may further include a polarization converter for converting between linear and circular polarization so as to allow for antenna operation with single or dual circular polarization energy. The polarization converter may include a pair of Meanderline polarizer sheets disposed above the metallic plates, or alternately may include use of a ninety degree hybrid coupler.
