A few days ago, the campaign hired a political director, Craig Bergman. The day before he took the job, Bergman talked in a focus group about the perception that Romney couldn't be elected because many conservative Christians believe Mormonism is a cult. After the Register asked about the comments,

Weak Iowa organization could be problem for Gingrich
Gingrich's attempts to build an organization here have also faltered. On Tuesday, his newly hired political director, Craig Bergman, stepped down after his remarks about Romney's religion during a focus group meeting were posted online.
