Abstract:

An electronic circuit to cancel the input bias currents of a differential amplifier over most of the common-mode input voltage range is provided. The circuit includes an arrangement of transistors, current mirror and current sources to track the input bias currents of the differential amplifier even when the common-mode voltage is within at least 0. 2 volts of the supply rail voltage level. The input bias cancellation currents are generated by tracking the input bias currents and injected into the differential amplifier inputs to cancel the input bias currents. The circuit includes a bootstrap loop to track the input bias currents when the common-mode voltage fluctuates.

Abstract:

A protective housing for a leadless chip carrier or plastic leaded chip carrier package includes a substantially rectangular-shaped solid body having a central cavity for receiving a chip package. The solid body is formed of four side portions. Beam members are pivotally connected on opposite sides of two of the four side portions of the solid body for retaining the package within the central cavity. A plurality of support members are formed on the interior surface of the two opposite side portions and the beam members for supporting the lower surface of the package at each of its four corners. The solid body is provided with two opposite chamfered corners for moving outwardly the beam members away from the central cavity so as to permit insertion or removal of the chip package from the central cavity.

A fixture for loading and unloading of a PGA chip package (12) into and out of a chip carrier (10) includes a substantially rectangular-shaped solid body member (56) having a central cavity (58). The body member is formed of a left side member (60), a right side member (62), a top side member (64), and a bottom side member (68). A first actuator (70a) is formed on an interior surface (68) of the left side member for contacting a first tab (38a) of the chip carrier (10). The first actuator (70a) includes a first outer, upwardly extending projection (72a) and a first inner, downwardly extending projection (76a). A second actuator (70b) is formed on an interior surface (69) of the right side member for contacting a second tab (38b) of the chip carrier (10). The second actuator (70b) includes a second outer, upwardly extending projection (72b) and a second inner, downwardly extending projection (76b). The first and second upwardly extending projections (72a, 72b) are used to move the tabs from an unlatched position to a latched position so as to allow for the loading and unloading of the chip package.

Abstract:

The invention provides microfluidic devices, systems, and methods for manipulating an object within a channel of a microfluidic device using an external electrode. The device has a channel disposed within the device, the channel having no included electrodes. The channel has a wall, at least a portion of which is penetrable by an electric field generated external to the device, the wall being penetrable such that the electric field extends through the wall portion and into a region within the channel. The system includes the microfluidic device and an electrode external to and not bonded to the device. In the method, the external electrode is placed adjacent to the device and energized to generate an electric field that extends through the wall of the device and into the channel, thereby manipulating an object within the channel.

Abstract:

The invention provides devices, systems, and methods for extracting target objects from a sample. In the method, a stream of sample containing a plurality of target and non-target objects is directed by first and second streams of buffer through a sample inlet channel into a fluid junction and through the fluid junction into a sample waste channel. In response to detecting a target object within the stream of sample, an actuator is energized to close a normally open valve, resulting in a transient burst of cross-flow into the fluid junction that briefly diverts the flow of sample within the fluid junction and results in an aliquot of sample being directed into an aliquot delivery channel. The combination of the valve and the actuator acts as a self-limiting pulse generator.
