A digitally controlled media multicasting system containing a signal processing system accepting and optionally modifying one or more independent single- or multi-channel baseband signals (typically, but by no means necessarily, audio or video signals); amplitude-, frequency-, or phase-modulating specified RF, IF, or LF carrier wave(s) in accord with said baseband signal(s); and then compositing the modulated carrier waves into a smaller quantity of waveform(s), said waveform(s) being (as necessary) frequency-multiplied or -shifted, and amplified for wireless transmission.

Abstract:

A system and method for protecting the rights and DRM technology of a content owner while increasing the convenience for users in a networked environment, e.g., a home network. By redirecting relevant DRM installation requests (e.g., for protected music, video, books, software, etc.) from a user's client device to his home server, and then acting upon authenticated client requests for the installed content strictly via the server, the user gains the convenience of limited client independence while the content owners retain assurance that their content will not be illicitly used by or redistributed to unauthorized users.

Abstract:

The present invention describes a system and method for maintaining databases. An ordered genealogy table is provided for implying hierarchical relations on an as-needed basis. The invention further provides relational search capabilities to a hierarchical database. The invention also allows a database that is maintained on a computer system in a hierarchical structure to be converted into a database that is maintained in a relational structure, and vice versa. In addition, the invention may be used with currently existing hierarchical and relational databases. The invention provides a plurality of records; a unique identifier for each of the records; a database for maintaining the records; and a table which contains one or more table entries, wherein each table entry contains a genealogy including the unique identifier of a particular record and the unique identifiers of any records that can be considered ancestors of that particular record in a hierarchy, and wherein the table entries are sorted in collating sequence according to their genealogies.
