Abstract:

A mechanism for minimizing electrostatic flashing of a lamp in a flash array by providing a short circuit across the camera socket terminals until flash firing is desired. The mechanism includes an electrically conductive piezoelectric firing spring connected to one socket terminal and an electrically conductive firing spring latch connected to another socket terminal. A short circuit is provided by engagement of the piezoelectric firing spring and firing spring latch until the piezoelectric firing spring is released to move to its piezoelectric crystal striking position.

Abstract:

In an aperture preferred exposure control apparatus for a photographic camera, scene light is received by an exposure time determining photocell and a low light determining photocell. The received light is attenuated at different rates respectively for the two photocells to change the shutter speed at which a low light signal will result as a function of the particular size exposure aperture selected.

Abstract:

A film cartridge has indicator means arranged within a dedicated area on an exterior surface of the cartridge. The indicator means may be physically altered to provide a visible indication that the cartridge was used in a particular type camera requiring the exposed film to receive special handling at the photofinisher. An altering member is mounted on a back door of the camera to contact the indicator means of the cartridge, to physically alter the indicator means, in response to closing movement of the back door. Thus, the cartridge can be readily identified by the photofinisher as one that was used in the camera. Preferably, the indicator means of the cartridge is constructed of a light-reflecting material which when disfigured by the altering member in the camera will reflect light diffusely. Apparatus at the photofinisher for determining whether the cartridge was used in the camera includes a photoconductive device for sensing the quantity of light reflected from the indicator means to a predetermined location. When the reflected light is scattered because the indicator means is disfigured, the quantity of reflected light reaching the photoconductive device is relatively low.

Abstract:

In a camera, a shutter release member is pivotally connected to a motion transmitting lever between respective end portions of the lever. One end portion of the lever normally contacts a removable fulcrum, and the other end portion contacts a restraining member provided for a shutter drive member. To initiate shutter actuation for picture-taking, the shutter release member is manually depressed to swing the lever about the removable fulcrum. The swinging lever moves the restraining member from a restraining position to a releasing position, freeing the drive member to actuate the camera shutter. To prevent unintended shutter actuation by inadvertently depressing the shutter release member, the fulcrum is removed from the lever. Then, manual depression of the shutter release member swings the lever about the restraining member, which is spring held in its restraining position to serve as an alternate fulcrum for the lever.

Methods and systems for printing on a print device from both authorized users and guest users are disclosed. The methods include receiving a request to initiate a document processing session on the print device, determining whether the requested document processing session is a kiosk mode session for executing a document processing job for a guest user or a staff mode session for executing a document processing job for an authorized user, initiating the kiosk mode session for executing paid document processing jobs in response to determining that the requested document processing session is the kiosk mode session, receiving a request for executing a first document processing job, determining a cost for executing the document processing job at the print device, receiving approval to execute the first document processing job at the print device for the determined cost from a guest user.
