Abstract:

A device for removably attaching a dispensing unit of a hot melt adhesive system to a support surface. The device generally includes a mounting plate having a mounting surface that is capable of being secured to a support surface, one or more engaging members, and one or more coupling members. The engaging and coupling members may be flanges extending outwardly from the mounting surface. The engaging and coupling members are arranged about the mounting surface for securing a base of the dispensing unit to the mounting plate after the device is secured to the support surface. The dispensing unit includes securing members that releasably couple with the engaging members to provide a secure interconnection with the mounting plate.

Abstract:

A heated handgun and hose assembly adapted to dispense heated liquids, such as hot melt adhesives, coatings, sealants, caulks and various other materials. The handgun and hose assembly includes a gripping portion and an actuating lever extending generally in line with the hose. The actuating lever operates a valve integrated with the nozzle to selectively allow or prevent the flow of liquid through the nozzle. A connection between the actuating lever and the nozzle limits the stroke of the valve and the travel of the actuating lever. A hose heater and multi-layer insulating materials wrap around the body of the valve as well as along the entire length of the hose. A membrane switch is incorporated into the actuating lever for applications utilizing an electrically-operated pump. The valve includes a suck-back feature to improve liquid cut-off and to prevent drooling of liquid from the nozzle outlet.

Abstract:

A thermoplastic material melting and dispensing apparatus includes a hopper, a melting grid, and a lid assembly which vents the interior of the hopper in an over pressure situation. Specifically, the lid assembly may be mounted with a spring-loaded hinge mechanism and may include a spring-loaded latch mechanism which each allow the lid to move upwardly away from a gas seal in the event that the gas pressure within the hopper exceeds a predetermined amount. The apparatus further includes a gas purging system which constantly circulates a gas, such as nitrogen, within the hopper interior. This gas purging system may include a solenoid valve which opens to allow exhaustion of pressurized gas from the hopper interior and the introduction of gas from a pressurized supply. A melting grid is provided which includes an surface with grooves communicating with a central outlet. The central outlet includes a plug and filter assembly which maintains solid thermoplastic material out of the outlet and filters melted thermoplastic material flowing through the outlet.
