Abstract:

A system and method for licensing the use of “plug-in” type software that plays audio, video, and three dimensional content which logs the network address from which content is downloaded and played by the plug-in client software, then sends this information to a billing system maintained by the plug-in software developer. This billing system can then bill the content provider that is associated with the network address based on the number of times the content is played by users of the plug-in software. The system and method can also employ a public key encryption scheme to ensure that the network address information received by the plug-in software is valid and to block the playing of content from content providers that are delinquent in their license payments.

Abstract:

A content-based method of managing a collection of documents is disclosed. A user interface is provided for managing the collection of documents. For each document, at least one information object representative of conceptual content of a portion of the document is identified. The information objects are combined with additional conceptual information inferred from the user interface to determine a network of conceptual relationships associated with the collection of documents. The user interface provides user access to the network of conceptual relationships to manage the collection of documents.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for generating realistic window borders of windows of a range of sizes for display on a display screen in a windowing environment. Realistic window borders with simulated 3-D characteristics and the appearance of real structures and materials such as wood, stone, etc. , are provided within a windowing display environment by first generating and inputting realistic pictorial frame elements, sizing the realistic frame elements in accordance with the desired size of the window and generating location information for each element based upon the desired size of the window. The sized frame elements are then assembled using the location information and displayed on the screen of the system display device.

Abstract:

The subject matter disclosed herein is generally directed to methods and compositions for tagging cells of interest, tracking evolution of the tagged cells, and recovering the original tagged cells for further study. Specifically, cells are tagged with a DNA construct encoding a barcode sequence comprising a guide sequence. Barcoded cells can then be recovered using a reporter construct having CRISPR target sequences specific for the cell having a barcode of interest.

Abstract:

An example disclosed method includes querying, via a logic circuit, a media processing device memory for files that can be stored to a USB storage device, the USB storage device being connected to a USB Host port of the media processing device; receiving a selection of one of the files to be stored to the USB storage device; determining, via the logic circuit, if the selected one of the files is a particular type of file, and if the selected one of the files is the particular type of file, converting the selected one of the files from a first representation to a second representation; and storing the selected one of the files in the second representation to the USB storage device.

Abstract:

Apparatuses, methods, and computer program products are perform features associated with a USB Host port on a media processing device. An apparatus is provided comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program instructions, the at least one memory and the computer program instructions being configured to, in cooperation with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to query a USB mass storage device for all template files stored at the root of the USB mass storage device, the USB mass storage device being connected to a USB Host port of a media processing device. The at least one at least one memory and the computer program instructions are further configured to, in cooperation with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to receive a selection of one or more of the template files to be processed and send the one or more selected files to a parser of the media processing device to be processed. If the selected file currently being processed comprises a reset command, the at least one at least one memory and the computer program instructions are further configured to, in cooperation with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to store an indication of the position within the list of selected files where the selected file currently being processed is located; cause performance of a reset of the media processing device; and resume processing from a position in the list of selected files based on the indication.
