Abstract:

A method of feeding an animal and a combination of a container configured to hold animal food material and a shroud therefor. The container includes an upright cup-shaped thin walled thermoplastic member having a bottom wall and an upstanding sidewall integrally formed with the bottom wall. An upper edge of the sidewall terminates in an annular rim structure defining the perimeter limits of an opening into an interior region of the container. The shroud includes an inverted cup-shaped member that has a top wall with a centrally oriented opening therethrough and an annular skirt depending downwardly from an outer perimeter of the top wall. The shroud is configured to fit over the opening into the interior region of the container to provide a protective shield preventing animals from gaining access to said thermoplastic material of the container while simultaneously allowing an animal to gain access to any contents in the interior region of the container.

Abstract:

An apparatus for testing several physical properties of pharmaceutical powders, which apparatus includes a frame having a ram linearly movably supported thereon and driven from a microstepping rotary drive motor. The ram, through a first load cell, cooperates with a selected one of two different tablet supporting head assemblies which removably mount of the frame for respectively testing tablet hardness and tensile strength. The frame also mounts a powder flow test arrangement which includes a bed stationarily supported on the frame for receiving a layer of powder, and a sled which rests on the powder layer and is freely horizontal movable relative to the bed. The sled is coupled through a generally horizontal tension member to a second load cell which is mounted on the ram independently of the first load cell.

Abstract:

A slow strain rate shear strength tester for a tablet of compressed pharmaceutical powders, which apparatus includes a ram assembly having a reciprocal ram horizontally slidably supported on a housing. The ram projects outwardly of the housing and mounts a compression member on the free end thereof. A head arrangement is removably mounted on a pair of brackets which project from the end of the housing. The head arrangement has opposed holding members which cooperate to define a notch for accommodating a compact therein in position for compression by the ram.
