Abstract:

Methods and apparatus for knee arthroplasty utilize components including an alignment device, a single medially or laterally located guidance device, and a cutting device for use in preparing the bones of a knee joint to receive knee arthroplasty implants. The alignment device is used to locate and orient the guidance device adjacent the medial or lateral side of a long bone of a knee joint. The cutting device is engaged with the guidance device and plunged across the end of the long bone to create a resected surface with respect to which a knee arthroplasty implant will be fixed. In one embodiment, the cutting tool guidance device extends less than about half way across the end of a long bone of a knee joint.

Abstract:

Methods and systems are provided for improving the repair efficacy of a repair action using inferred feedback. The method comprises downloading a repair procedure, which has a probability of success for correcting the fault code. Repair action data is input into to the computing device and is tracked and correlated with the downloaded procedure. The method then adjusts a probability of success of the repair procedure in clearing the fault code generated by the complex system based at least on the correlation. The system comprises a means for receiving repair data, a means for tracking repair action data taken, a means for correlating the tracked repair action and the repair data, and a means for updating a probability of success of the repair action based at least in part on the correlation of the repair data, the repair action data and the operating status of the complex system.

Abstract:

Systems, methods and devices are provided that allow more efficient transfer and processing of sensor information in a hierarchical data system. The system provides for a plurality of component area managers (CAM), each of the CAMS being in operable communication with at least one of a plurality of transducers that monitors a phenomena of a component and in operable communication with a data bus. A CAM comprises a processor in operable communication with the at least one transducer of the plurality of transducers, wherein the first processor is configured to record data generated by the at least one transducer of the plurality of transducers, to reduce the recorded data, to place the reduced data on the data bus. The system also includes a transducer selection module controlled by the first processor by which the first processor selects one of the plurality of transducers to record and a rolling buffer in operable communication with the first processor and in operable communication with the at least one transducer by which to record the data generated by the at least one transducer of the plurality in a first-in-first-out manner.

Abstract:

Systems for use in total knee arthroplasty include a cutting guide having only a single slot. The single slot is configured to be positioned adjacent an anterior side of the medial compartment of the knee joint with no portion positioned adjacent an anterior side of the lateral compartment of the knee joint. The single slot is adapted to guide an oscillating saw blade across the knee bone from the medial compartment to resect at least a portion of the lateral compartment. The system also includes a total knee arthroplasty implant adapted to be implanted on the resected surface.
