Abstract:

This invention provides a universal interface system that is capable of launching software applications across operating system platforms. For example, the universal interface system allows a computer using a Microsoft Windows operating system to launch and execute software applications that were written for a UNIX operating system environment. Conversely, the universal interface system allows software applications written for a Linux operating system environment to be launched and operating in a Sun Solaris operating system environment. The universal interface system may interface between the BIOS and the operating system or operate on top of the operating system.

Abstract:

A product location display system and method are provided that allow travel related product information, such as the geographic location of hotels, to be displayed on an interactive display. An application server of the product location display system receives user inputted criteria for a travel product search. A location management system determines a location for the travel product being searched based on the inputted criteria. Sub-locations associated with the geographic location being searched are pre-defined as being within the searched geographic location and stored within a location database memory component coupled with the location management system. A display configuration component of the location management system arranges and displays results of the search for the travel product by the sub-locations defined as being within the searched location.

Abstract:

An efficient golf contest and methods of playing and operating it are provided. A player acquires a supply of golf balls, which may be limited, and a golf club. The player must hit golf balls from a first location into a first hole located a first distance from the first location, a second hole located a second distance from the first location, and a final hole located a final distance from the first location, all within a standard, in order to advance in the contest. The standard can be defined by any one or a combination of a limited supply of golf balls available to play all of the holes, a limited playing time to play all of the holes, and comparing the playing time to the playing times of other players in the contest such that only a selected number or percentage of players with the lowest playing times will advance.
