Abstract:

Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for intelligent storage planning and planning within a clustered computing environment (e. g. , a cloud computing environment). Specifically, embodiments of the present invention will first determine/identify a set of storage area network volume controllers (SVCs) that is accessible from a host that has submitted a request for access to storage. Thereafter, a set of managed disk (mdisk) groups (i. e. , corresponding to the set of SVCs) that are candidates for satisfying the request will be determined. This set of mdisk groups will then be filtered based on available space therein, a set of user/requester preferences, and optionally, a set of performance characteristics. Then, a particular mdisk group will be selected from the set of mdisk groups based on the filtering.

Abstract:

An approach for automatic storage planning and provisioning within a clustered computing environment is provided. Planning input for a set of storage area network volume controllers (SVCs) will be received within the clustered computing environment, the planning input indicating a potential load on the SVCs and its associated components. Analytical models (e. g. , from vendors) can be also used that allow for a load to be accurately estimated on the storage components. Configuration data for a set of storage components (i. e. , the set of SVCs, a set of managed disk (Mdisk) groups associated with the set of SVCs, and a set of backend storage systems) will also be collected. Based on this configuration data, the set of storage components will be filtered to identify candidate storage components capable of addressing the potential load. Then, performance data for the candidate storage components will be analyzed to identify an SVC and an Mdisk group to address the potential load.

Abstract:

Systems and methods are disclosed for managing the traffic between autonomous systems in the Internet. Data on links on border routers between autonomous systems is collected and analyzed at certain traffic times. Once determined, traffic on various customer facing interfaces at that time is associated with an Internet Prefix. Then, the aggregate traffic volume for each Internet Prefix is allocated to a first link on a primary routing basis and to a second link on a secondary routing basis. These routes are announced to a provisioning system that in turn, configures various border routers, which in turn announce the new routes using the Internet Border Gateway Protocol. In this manner, inter-autonomous traffic is managed to facilitate traffic distribution on the links according to criteria defined by network provider, allowing resources to be better utilized and network traffic to be maintained if a link fails.

Abstract:

A connector for an IC memory card having a printed circuit member mounted within the housing of the card which extends into a slot opening at the edge of the card. The connector contains two rows of contacts which are engageable with conductive traces on the opposite sides of the printed circuit member when the card is inserted into the connector. The contacts in the connector are reversely bent to form inner arms joined to outer arms by nose portions. The inner arms of the contacts in the two rows are normally spaced apart a distance greater than the thickness of the printed circuit member so that when the card is initially inserted into the connector, the noses of the contacts will pass freely over the border of the printed circuit member. Thereafter, the sidewalls of the housing of the card cam the outer arms of the contacts inwardly, forcing the inner arms into engagement with the traces on the printed circuit member in the card.

A connector assembly is described for fitting in a small space between a display panel device and a printed circuit board device, to electrically connect a multiplicity of closely-spaced conductors on the devices. Abstract:

A method of making a multilayer board in which relatively thick ground and voltage planes are punched to form clearance holes. The planes are stacked with insulative layers, laminated and then drilled to produce through holes aligned with the clearance holes. The through holes are then plated-through. Abstract:

A cable assembly and construction method to enable a cable to be pulled lengthwise in a conduit or otherwise, wherein a perforate plate is placed among insulated wires in a bundle emanating from one end of the cable jacket or sheath. The wires are bonded to each other and to the plate by potting. An epoxy or resin may be used, if desired. Alternatively a paraffin potting step may be employed to provide a base for a resin, a paraffin block being potted between the jacket and the resin.
