Abstract:
In one embodiment, a networking hardware element () capable of coupling computer network elements () comprises a network diagnostic mechanism () that is capable of mapping the computer network elements and that is also capable of determining a connection status for the computer network elements. The networking hardware element also comprises a display () that is capable of communicating with the network diagnostic mechanism and that is also capable of displaying a network layout map () of representations of the computer network elements and the connection status of the computer network elements.
A system () capable of configuring an electrical device () coupled to a computer (), the system includes: (a) a computer communications component () of the electrical device configured to communicate with the computer; and (b) an installation component () of the electrical device capable of an initial configuration the electrical device. In this embodiment, the installation component is configured to automatically begin the initial configuration of the electrical device as soon as the installation component detects the electrical device is not configured and the computer communications component establishes a data connection between the electrical device and the computer. Furthermore, the initial configuration of the electrical device includes an initial configuration of either a dynamic or non-dynamic network connection between the electrical device and a network provider.

Instruction-Wielding Apparatus And Method Of Presenting Instructions Thereon
An instruction-wielding apparatus () comprises two or more interaction points (), an instruction-holding mechanism (), and one or more on-product instruction cards () capable of being supported by the instruction-holding mechanism. At least a first one of the on-product instruction cards () comprises two or more instruction steps () and two or more instruction pointers (). When the instruction-holding mechanism supports the first one of the on-product instruction cards, a first one of the instruction pointers () points to a first physical location () of a first one of the interaction points (), and correlates it to a first one of the instruction steps (). At the same time, a second one of the instruction pointers () points to a second physical location () of a second one of the interaction points (), and correlates it to a second one of the instruction steps ().

Honor & Awards:
I've received some awards from IDSA/BusinessWeek, and one from Design Zentrum. Products I've worked on have been award winners in publications such as Time, Laptop and PC magazine. A number of my projects have been featured in the New York Times. I also have a bunch of US and international patents, both functional patents and design patents.
Ideally I should be entering my projects every year and keeping a detailed record of awards and patents. But it's just not interesting for me. I'd much rather be diving into this week's design challenges– that's where the joy is.
