Abstract:

The system provides an automated, centralized back-end payroll service with a full-featured web-based payroll system. Both aspects of the system have access to a central database, which includes, for example: profile information on employers and employees; timesheet, salary and hourly wage data; overtime data; employee benefit data; and information regarding third-party providers and miscellaneous payees. The full-featured payroll system functionality is implemented in a manner that provides employers and employees (to the extent security policies permit) with a robust, data-driven user interface via a standard web browser. The central database provides the systems back-end (server-side) payroll service functionality with constant access to the data. The system implements and enforces compliance with a wide variety of tax-related and employment-related rules across federal, state and local jurisdictions relating, for example, to overtime pay, benefit limits, payment frequency, and scheduled reporting requirements. The system can automatically receive and implement electronic updates to these rules, modifying its own functionality to conform to these changes and ensure compliance with current rules.

An enhanced VPD structure includes a type field to indicate whether a particular property is a general property to be associated with an interface card or other computer system component, or a device- or function-specific property to be associated with one or more devices or functions. The enhanced VPD structure also includes fields for identifying the device(s) and/or function(s) to which a device- or function-specific property applies, along with the value of the property, a data type and length of the property, and a meaningful name of the property. The enhanced VPD structure may be accessed during system boot, during hot-swapping of an interface card or other component, or at other times.

Abstract:

A processor employing device-specific memory address translation. In one embodiment, a processor may include a device interface configured to receive a memory access request from an input/output (I/O) device, where the request specifies a virtual memory address and a first requestor identifier (ID) that identifies the I/O device. The processor may also include an I/O memory management unit coupled to the device interface and configured to determine whether a virtual-to-physical memory address translation corresponding to the virtual memory address is stored within an I/O memory translation buffer. The I/O memory management unit may be further configured to determine whether a second requestor ID stored within the I/O memory translation buffer and corresponding to the memory address translation matches the first requestor ID. If the first and second requestor IDs do not match, the I/O memory management unit may disallow the memory access request and to signal an error condition.

Abstract:

An automated system, method or computer program product for providing emergency communications can include an emergency communications application and a MyFlare emergency communications server. The MyFlare emergency communications application can run on a mobile device and can be configured to, when activated, interface with the MyFlare emergency communications server to send preconfigured emergency messages to a preconfigured set of emergency contacts. Different emergency profiles can be preconfigured for which different emergency messages can be sent. Additionally, a different set of emergency contacts can be assigned for different emergency profiles. The emergency communications application can be configured to capture additional information, such as but not limited to GPS location of the device, photo, video, or sound recording, in preconfigured time intervals. The updated information can be sent to the one or more preconfigured emergency contacts as part of the initial emergency message or a subsequent emergency notification update.
