A cooking platform includes at least one surface heating element having a first power consumption level and an oven located under the surface heating element. The oven includes a first heating element having a second power consumption level and a second heating element having a third power consumption level. The second heating element has at least two heating sub-elements. Abstract:

A cooktop has its body disposed within a rectangular shaped opening in a counter top. The body has upper front and rear flanges larger than the opening in the counter top to rest on the counter top. The cooktop has two slidably mounted clamping brackets on its bottom surface with one at its front edge and the other at its rear edge. Each clamping bracket is releasably held in a retracted position within the periphery of the bottom surface of the cooktop during insertion of the cooktop into the opening. Each clamping bracket has two elongated slots through which two screws extend into two holes in the bottom surface of the cooktop. After the cooktop is inserted within the opening in the counter top, the two screws for each clamping bracket are loosened, and each clamping bracket is moved to an extended position with its maximum being the length of the elongated slots. Each clamping bracket has a nut to receive a long screw. Each long screw is rotated through the nut on the clamping bracket until it engages the bottom surface of the counter top to prevent movement of the cooktop.

Abstract:

An improved gas fueled cooking appliance incorporating surface heating units comprising burners with automatic reignition capability adapted for use in combination with surface level downdraft venting is provided with an air deflector disposed proximate the igniter to alter the flow of air in the vicinity of the igniter so as to prevent the downdraft vent induced air flow from moving the flame from the igniter. In a preferred form the air deflector is a thin wall extending upwardly from the cooktop surface. The wall extends away from the burner with the end of the wall nearest the burner being laterally spaced from and even with or downstream from the igniter electrode located on the periphery of the burner.

Abstract:

An improved cooktop mounting arrangement for a range with an upswept lift-up cooktop including a pair of upper pivot members extending from opposite sides of the upswept section of the cooktop, a pair of spaced lower pivot members extending from opposite sides of the cooktop near the intersection of the upswept section and the cooking surface section, and corresponding upper and lower guides supported from the main range body. The upper and lower guides are cooperatively configured to respectively simultaneously guide the upper pivot members through a vertically oriented arcuate path extending downwardly and forwardly and to guide the lower pivot members through a horizontally oriented path extending generally forwardly and upwardly as the cooktop moves from its lowered position to its raised position. This arrangement eliminates the need for a vertical gap for clearance between the upswept section and overhanging structure when the cooktop is in its lowered position, and also eliminates the need for space behind the upswept section to accommodate rearward movement of the upswept section.
