Abstract:

A system and method to provide requested travel directions to a user's pager or voice mail system includes an Internet based server which accepts the geographic endpoints defining the desired directions and the user's pager or voice mail information. The server uses the endpoints as a query to a mapping database to determine the directions. The server then formats and sends the directions to the paging system and pager or voice mailbox identified by the user.

Abstract:

An improved telephone call processing apparatus for processing facsimile messages. The facsimile processing apparatus comprises a message control system including a voice control unit (VCU), a control processor unit (CPU), and a telephone line card. Multiple buses including a high speed voice/data bus, a control bus, and a time division multiplexed (TDM) bus are used to couple the VCU, the CPU and the line card. The high speed data bus is dedicated for voice and data transmission only. The control bus is dedicated to command controls and system background tasks. The TDM bus is used to make full duplex voice connections between individual line card ports and facsimile message controller modem channels. The CPU manages the connections between line card ports and fax channels. The VCU comprises a high speed processor and a control processor.

An integrated application controlled call processing and messaging system for use with a telephone system. The preferred embodiment comprises a PBX or central office system (Centrex) coupled to a voice messaging system to which an applications processor is coupled. Abstract:

A private branch exchange (PBX) direct in dailing (DID) and an E&M tie trunk voice message integration adapter and method is disclosed. The invention permits a calling party on a DID line to a desired extension connected to a PBX to be automatically connected to the called party's mailbox in a VMS when the called extension is busy or does not answer.
