Abstract:

Anatomical feature tracking involves advancing a medical instrument to a treatment site of a patient, the medical instrument comprising an imaging device, generating a first image of at least a portion of the treatment site using the imaging device of the medical instrument when a distal end of the medical instrument is in a first position, generating a first silhouette of a first target anatomical feature represented in the first image, generating a second image of at least a portion of the treatment site using the imaging device of the medical instrument when the distal end of the medical instrument is in a second position, generating a second silhouette of a second target anatomical feature represented in the second image, and determining a target position at the treatment site based at least in part on the first silhouette and the second silhouette.

Abstract:

A system and method for tracking and determining characteristics of an inflatable medical instrument that is configured for interventional deployment. The system includes a guidewire that is positioned within a lumen of the inflatable medical instrument. The guidewire includes an optical fiber for a FORS system. The FORS system is configured to measure a shape of the guidewire during the interventional deployment of the inflatable medical instrument. A shape analysis module is configured to analyze the FORS data from the FORS system and determine characteristics of the inflatable medical instrument, including the diameter of the inflatable instrument, the pressurization of the instrument, whether the instrument has ruptured and the position of the inflatable instrument during an interventional procedure.

An electromagnetic navigation device for guiding and tracking an interventional tool () within an anatomical region. The electromagnetic navigation device employs a guidewire () insertable into the anatomical region, and a hub () translatable and/or rotatable in conjunction with the interventional tool () relative to the guidewire (). In operation, the guidewire () includes one or more guidance electromagnetic sensors generating guidance data informative of an electromagnetic sensing of a position and/or an orientation of the guidewire () relative to the anatomical region, and the hub () includes a tracking electromagnetic sensor () generating tracking data informative of an electromagnetic sensing of a position and/or an orientation of the hub () relative to the guidewire (). Abstract:

A robot control system includes a controller device () mountable on a medical instrument and including a housing with a trackpad configured to interact with a printed circuit board therein to create electronic signals corresponding with movement of the trackpad. The electronic signals include a point signal and a click signal. An adapter is formed on the housing and is configured to detachably connect the controller device to the medical instrument. A display () is responsive to the point signal of the controller device to permit a cursor to be moved on the display to indicate a position to be imaged or moved to. A robot system () is configured to respond to the click signal to move one of a robot directly or an instrument held by the robot in accordance with the position to be imaged or moved to.
