Abstract:
An improved system, apparatus and method for injecting a chemical from a storage tank into a natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas pipeline at a flow-controlled injection rate is provided. The system, apparatus and method including a pair of positive-displacement pumps driven in substantially complementary fashion by a single driver, a controller controlling the driver, and each pump being fed from the storage tank and discharging chemical into the pipeline. The system, apparatus and method may also include a second pair of positive-displacement pumps having substantially similar displacement and operatively connected to the first pair of positive-displacement pumps, the first pair of positive-displacement pumps being driven in a substantially complementary fashion with the second pair of pumps by a single driver or a pair of drivers.
Method For Producing Three-Dimensional Images From Nuclear Data
A nuclear imaging tomographic scanner acquires data from a volume of interest and a tomographic reconstruction is used to produce a three-dimensional array of data elements. A three-dimensional image of an object within this volume of interest as viewed from a projection plane is created using this three-dimensional array of data. The resulting two-dimensional data is shaded by determining the distance between the projection plane and points on the surface of the object. The exact distance is determined using an interpolation method and more distant points are shaded darker. The shading is further accentuated by measuring the gradient of the object's surface and shading points on the surface with a higher gradient darker.
An imaging system of a type producing a plurality of X-Y matrices representing projection views of an object for later reconstruction using parts of a plurality of the views employs correlation techniques for determining the amount of motion along X and Y axes. The detected motion may be removed by suitably shifting later data to align it with earlier data, or vice versa. In one embodiment, all brightness values parallel to the X axes of two views are summed to develop two one-dimensional arrays containing information about the brightness patterns in the Y direction. One of the two one-dimensional arrays is shifted, and the two one-dimensional arrays multiplied, pixel-by-pixel, and the products are summed to provide a measure of similarity between the brightness patterns in the one-dimensional arrays. Repeated shifts produce a correlation function the shift position of whose maximum is a good approximation of the amount of motion occurring between the two views. The detected motion may be used to alert the operator that the data is faulty or to permit automatic alignment of all data from a scan.

Abstract:
An apparatus for correcting patient motion between views in a medical imaging device employing multiple views in the generation of an image, and where some view data is truncated as a result of the finite area of the detector array, establishes a last row in the matrix of data for each view prior to and independent of the truncation for the purposes of evaluating motion. The data prior to this last row is compared with the data from the previous view with repeated relative shifts between the data to determine a lowest difference sum. Several difference sums may be employed to determine a shifting amount including a fractional part of a row.

Abstract:
An apparatus for collecting a dry material sample flowing in a duct is disclosed. The apparatus includes a sample tube having a closed distal end and a sample-inlet aperture in the wall of the sample tube adjacent the closed distal end, a housing configured as a fluid cylinder with a duct end and an outlet end and a piston mounted around and connected to the sample tube and positioned within the housing. The apparatus also includes first and second sealing sleeves around and slideably supporting the sample tube. The duct end includes the first sealing sleeve and the outlet end includes the second sealing sleeve. A duct-connecting structure extends between the duct end of the housing and the duct. The sample tube is a piston rod within the fluid-cylinder housing, and the fluid-cylinder housing is configured to extend and retract the sample tube within the duct.
