Abstract:

A lamp module for an image projector includes a lamp assembly connected to a lamp frame by a retainer clip having three-point snap connection to the lamp frame. The retainer clip is made of sheet metal and includes a central opening that receives the lamp assembly to form a sub-assembly that snaps into the lamp frame. The lamp frame includes two upstanding posts each having a shoulder that snaps into an associated opening in the retainer clip. The retainer clip further includes a lip that snaps over the front face of the lamp frame to securely connect the lamp assembly to the lamp frame.

Abstract:

A fan assembly for an image projector includes a split fan shroud that substantially surrounds the fan but does not fully enclose it. The fan shroud has a height that is substantially equal to the height of the fan. In one embodiment the shroud includes opposed first and second sections that are separately mounted to the image projector. In another embodiment the shroud is integral with a portion of the image projector housing.

Abstract:

A lighting module has a housing that houses an array of light-emitting elements and has multiple channels that each have an opening at the end of each channel. All of the openings of the channels are positioned along the same plane in some examples. The plane is opposite the surface of the housing that emits the light from the light-emitting elements. An intake fan is positioned in at least one of the channels so that it causes air to enter the housing through that channel's opening. An exhaust fan is positioned in another one of the channels so that it causes air to be forced out of the housing through the other channel's opening. The air flow through the intake channel and the exhaust channel help cool the lighting module during use.

Abstract:

An optical projector is described that orients its optics engine preferably vertically within an enclosure that is higher than it is wide or deep. The invented optics engine uses a prismatic cube for color separation or beam splitting, with the prismatic elements within the cube being secured within a durable frame that mounts the three color light valves, e. g. twisted nematic liquid crystal display (LCD)-type shutters, in a predefined position and orientation relative to the prismatic cube. In order to improve image quality and brightness, especially of the notoriously difficult-to-reproduce green color, red and blue beams are S polarized, as is conventional, but the green beam is P-polarized. The invented optical projector preferably includes a frame having a footing portion for resting on a support surface, a light source high above the footing portion, optical convolution structure downstream from the light source for reverse-bending downwardly flowing light from the source, light modulation structure near the reverse bend region for infusing the light with image information and for directing modulated light upwardly in a projectable, image-containing stream of light and outward-projection directing structure high on the frame for receiving and outwardly directing such stream of light.

Abstract:

A connection apparatus for interactively accessing over signal paths of minimum length the signals by which an electronic device with a large number of pins communicates with its environment through a pin grid array socket includes two printed circuit boards, each having a pin grid array socket or a plurality of individual receptacles for pins arranged in a pin grid array pattern, stacked vertically with their pin grid arrays vertically aligned. Each of these circuit boards has a receptacle side on top and a partial array of associated pins on the bottom. The total number of locations in these pin grid arrays exceeds the number of pins on the device, so that signals may be interrupted by the absence of a pin on the bottom of the top board, rerouted for interactive monitoring, sent to the bottom board by a pin in a location not used by the electronic device, and rerouted back to its original location in the pin grid array by runs on the bottom board so that it may be presented to a pin grid array socket in the device's environment by a pin in that location on the bottom of the bottom board. Circuitry for manipulating or emulating the interrupted signals can be placed on the top board where it is very close to the electronic device.

Abstract:

A head disk assembly for a hard disk drive having a mechanical actuator latch subassembly. The head disk assembly includes an enclosure, a disk, a pivot bearing cartridge, and a head stack assembly. The enclosure includes a base that preferably includes integral side walls. The disk has a recording surface that has an annular landing zone. The head stack assembly includes a head supported to be moved radially relative to the recording surface and to be brought to rest at a position in the landing zone. Significantly, the head disk assembly also includes a unitary latch base member and a unitary pivot latch member. The unitary latch base member has a mounting portion for mounting the latch base member to the base, an arm extending parallel to the major interior-facing surface, an inner crash stop post including an engaging end, and a pivot post. The arm also includes a spring holding post. The unitary pivot latch member has a bore surrounding the pivot post to allow pivot motion of the pivot latch member.
