Abstract:

A fuel control system, battle override valve and a method of controlling bypass fuel in a fuel system are disclosed. A battle override valve for an engine fuel system includes a metering valve having a rate limiting function providing for control of a slew rate during an operation of the battle override valve. A transfer valve having a manual fuel control operating position and a normal fuel control operating position permits a flow of fuel between the metering valve and the transfer valve. The transfer valve is controlled between the normal fuel control operating position and the manual fuel control operating position in order to regulate a flow of fuel during a manual or bypass fuel system operation.

Abstract:

A purge air and fuel flow divider module () independently directs fuel flow to a plurality of manifolds (and ) and independently purges fuel from these manifolds with air when they are not flowing fuel. A secondary manifold () is filled with fuel before flowing metered burn flow to it and fuel flow is apportioned between a primary manifold () and the secondary manifold () during secondary manifold metered burn flow. Three manifolds are disclosed, a primary manifold (), a secondary manifold () and a start or pilot manifold (), each containing fuel nozzles (). A manifold main housing () contains a purge valve () and two three-way solenoids () controlling respectively a secondary transfer valve () and a pilot nozzle transfer valve (). Depending on the requirements, the solenoids position the valves to either provide manifold fill fuel, burn flow fuel or purge air to their respective manifolds. When fuel is shut off to the manifold, the purge valve () is remotely commanded to purge the primary manifold () with air.
