Abstract:

A system that pushes active data to a client receives a first request for a page that includes active data from the client. The active data includes a component and a corresponding model for a data source of the component. The system determines if the model is active and if so, instantiates an encoder that corresponds to the component. The system queries the model for the active data and renders a user interface representation of the data. The system then returns a response to the request with the user interface representation.

Abstract:

Apparatuses and methods are provided for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair incorporating a transhumeral bone tunnel. The apparatus comprises a number of components that can also be considered a repair system to include a drill guide, a marking hook, and a drill with a removable tip that serves as a bone anchor. In another aspect, the invention provides a suture especially adapted for securing both soft tissue and bone anchors that reduces forces transmitted to the anchors by secondary anchoring of the suture within the bone tunnel based on the geometry of the anchor. In additional aspects of the invention, the components of the drill guide assembly comprise a cannulated marking hook and a drill guide with multiple bores. In additional aspects of the invention, an implantable bone anchor is provided that is especially adapted for placement through a bone tunnel, and wherein the implantable anchor is collapsible to increase the effective size of the anchor for securing the anchor to the far side opening of the bone tunnel through which the anchor was placed. Methods of the invention include a method of arthroscopic repair of a rotator cuff, and methods of activating an implantable anchor.

Abstract:

A device and method for testing the contents of a sample of a controlled substance to confirm the presence or absence of the controlled substance within that sample. In one implementation, the device and method utilize antibodies designed to interact with one or more anesthetics, e.g., opioid analgesics. The antibodies may be tagged (e.g., attached to a colored marker) to allow for optically identifying the occurrence of an antibody reaction with an antigen (e.g., associated with a given anesthetic) within a sample. The antibody/antigen reaction may be implemented in connection with a number of different devices, including fluid drop testers and thin layer chromatographic systems. In addition to the presence of a anesthetic in a given sample, the inventive device may identify the concentration of the anesthetic in order to identify diluted samples. In this manner, handling of anesthetics in connection with medical procedures, including transfer of custody and wasting, can be better monitored, for example, to inhibit diversion of anesthetics and reduce associated medical and legal concerns.

Abstract:

Bioelectric implants are provided in three distinct embodiments, namely a bone/tissue anchor, a suture construction, and a plate. The bioelectric implants function in dual capacities as both fixation devices, and as galvanic cells for the production of electrical energy used for therapeutic purposes in tissue regeneration and healing. The bioelectric anchor may take the general form of a screw or pin having a hollow interior or cavity that extends through the body of the anchor. A coating can be applied to the cavity to form the anode portion of the galvanic cell. The outer surface of the anchor serves as a cathode. Bodily fluids and tissue act as an electrolyte to facilitate the chemical reactions necessary for the galvanic cell. For the suture construction, one or more strands of material are the cathode, and one or more strands of peripheral surrounding material act as the anode. Bodily fluids/tissue in contact with the suture act as an electrolyte. The bioelectric plate can be used in combination with the bioelectric anchor to supplement delivery of electrical energy. The plate has anode and cathode portions also making it a source of electrical energy.
