Abstract:

A back-mounted load-carrying device, such as a backpack or a child carrier, having an adjustable waist belt assembly is described. The waist belt assembly is freely slidable between a variety of vertical positions along a rigid frame. A locking mechanism, actuatable while the device is being worn, permits a user to adjust the waist belt assembly to rest comfortably on his hip and around his waist on the fly and subsequently secure the waist belt in the desired position. A pair of hip-load transfer members that are rigid to loads applied in the vertical direction comprise the waist belt assembly and rest against the hip of a user when the waist belt is secured. These members help to transfer load from the device to the users hips and act to lessen the amount of load carried by the users shoulder and back, the result being greater comfort and less fatigue.

Abstract:

A child carrier utilized to carry a child on the back of an adult is described. The child carrier includes a rigid frame having front and rear sections. The front section, adjacent to the users back, comprises a pair of rigid columnar members joined at their top ends by a rigid yoke. In preferred embodiments, the yoke has slots formed therein to serve as a handle and to provide connecting points for the shoulder straps. A child restraint system is described wherein a floating loop is formed by the interconnection of the shoulder straps and the crouch strap. A rigid canopy is described comprising arcuate rigid members that connect to the front and rear sections of the rigid frame, and a flexible hood. A waist belt assembly is also described that permits a waist belt to be adjusted vertically to account for different builds of various users.

Abstract:

A multiple clip fastener for securing sections of hair of a human being in rows and for aligning hair clips. The apparatus is a semicircle headband, retaining comb, or barrette that has a plurality of hair clips integrally attached and aligned longitudinally along their top. In use, the headband, retaining comb, or barrette is attached to the hair and hair sections are neatly aligned and secured in rows to the multiple clip fastener by placing each corresponding hair section into corresponding hair clip. Each clip remains aligned with each other and the multiple clip hair fastener is removable and reusable.

Abstract:

A hair-band comb fastener and method for securing sections of hair of a human being. The apparatus comprises a retaining comb with an attaching member toward an end of the comb base and a resilient band attached toward the other end of the comb base. The resilient band has an attaching means for mating with the attaching member on the comb base. Whereby, the comb can be placed in the user's hair, a hair section can be placed in front of the comb, the band can be stretched across the hair section, and the attaching member on the band can be secured to the attaching member on the comb base.
