Abstract:

A fatigue life optimized modular bucket assembly for a work machine and a method of manufacturing thereof are disclosed. The bucket assembly includes a bucket core having a pair of side sections, a continuous wrapper, a supporting element, and a receptacle; and an extension module having a pair of side bars, a guard module, an edge module, and, optionally, a set of extension plates. The method includes prebuilding the bucket core, receiving an order, providing parts for the extension module, and assembling the bucket core and the extension module parts. The bucket assembly may include universal and customizable components without exhibiting reduction to fatigue life commonly associated with weld seams.

A tilting bucket assembly comprises an adapter subassembly including a two coupler members defining a coupler distance, a base plate attached to the coupler members that defines a first recess, a torsion tube that defines a second recess, and a bucket subassembly that is pivotally connected to the adapter subassembly, the bucket subassembly including a spill guard including a stop portion configured to contact the adapter subassembly, and a tilting mechanism, wherein the first recess and second recess clear the tilting mechanism and the spill guard when the base plate contacts the stop portion of the spill guard.

A mounting member for coupling a rock guard with a top wall of a loader bucket is provided. The mounting member includes a base plate having a first end and a second end distal to the first end. The base plate is configured to couple to the top wall. The base plate includes a diametric portion at the first end and an elongate portion at the second end. The mounting member also includes an extension plate projecting upwards from the base plate. The extension plate is configured to couple the rock guard with the top wall. The extension plate includes a first inclined edge defined at a first angle with respect to the base plate. The first inclined edge is configured to couple with the rock guard. The extension plate also includes a second inclined edge distal to the first inclined edge.

A wear assembly for a loader bucket is disclosed. A tilt bucket may include a front structure having an outer surface, the front structure including a base plate with a bottom surface. The tilt bucket may include a bottom edge and a curved wrapper extending between the base plate and the bottom edge. A ratio of a maximum distance between the curved wrapper and a first line extending from the bottom edge to the tangent point on the outer surface of the front structure, taken substantially perpendicularly from the first line, relative to a length of the first line, may be about 0.64 to 0.70.
