Abstract:

A system for maintaining a customers telephone number when a switch from one service provider to a second provider is made interfaces with a regional customer number database to keep track of local numbers and the corresponding local service provider which services each number. Service providers interface with the database and obtain information at the telephone number level that permits individual providers to determine which carrier is providing service to which telephone number. A neutral third party maintains and administers the database allowing free access by any participating provider.

Abstract:

A method, system and computer program product for achieving local number portability. Two databases are interfaced so that message data from one database is selectively passed to the other database and processed for transfer to corresponding requesting software applications. More specifically, a regional interface broadcast agent is interfaced to an interface broadcast agent repository so that message data from the regional interface broadcast agent is selectively passed to the interface broadcast agent repository.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a system and method for achieving local number portability. Local number portability is a feature that allows a customer desiring to change local telephone service to maintain the same telephone number regardless of the service. To achieve local number portability, the present invention maintains and manages a communication scheme between and among regional telephone service providers throughout the country. The present invention includes interface applications between the invention and regional providers, regional telephone data repositories, invention telephone data repositories, and downstream data processing applications. The present invention is particularly directed towards the interface between the present scheme and the downstream processing applications. The interface includes subsystems which assist in communicating data records between the present scheme telephone data repositories and the downstream applications. The data records include, for example, activated, deactivated and modified telephone numbers.

Abstract:

The present invention allows a telephone data repository to communicate with an external system, the interface system comprising a first communications link connecting the telephone data repository to an interface, a second communications link connecting the interface to the external system, and the interface configured to retrieve a plurality of telephone data from the telephone data repository via the first communications link, format the plurality of telephone data into a plurality of formatted telephone data that is compatible with the external system, and to send the plurality of formatted telephone data to the external system via the second communications link. The present invention also provides a method that allows a telephone data repository to communicate with an external system, comprising the steps of connecting to the telephone data repository via a first communications link, connecting the external system via a second communications link, retrieving a plurality of telephone data from the telephone data repository via the first communications link, formatting the plurality of telephone data into a plurality of formatted telephone data that is compatible with the external system, and sending the plurality of formatted telephone data to the external system via the second communications link.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a system and method for auditing and reconciliation of a telephone service provider's database and a central or regional repository. Both the database and repository contain data records. The data records include telephone number porting information that facilitates tracking and porting of telephone numbers. The system comprises interface means between a service provider's database and the repository. Abstract:

The present invention provides a method and system for processing data records from a telephone data repository to a receiving system having a message queue and a response queue. The method for processing data records comprising the steps of reading a response from the response queue and whenever the response is successfully read, processing the response. This step is then repeated until there are no more responses to be read. Next, a data record is retrieved from the telephone data repository and whenever the data record is successfully retrieved, the data record is formated into a message and putting the message in the message queue. This step is then repeated until a specified number of data records have been retrieved or there are no more data records to be retrieved. The system comprises a data processor, a first communications link connecting the data processor to a telephone data repository, a second communications link connecting the data processor to a message queue, and a third communications link connecting the data processor to a response queue. The data processor is configured to retrieve a data record from the telephone data repository via the first communications link, format the data record into a message and send the message to the message queue via the second communications link.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a system and method for testing a telephone data interface system. The telephone data interface is tested by reading one or more data records, connecting to the telephone data interface system, connecting the telephone data interface system to a external system emulator, sending one or more messages using the one or more data records to the telephone data interface system, formatting the one or more data records into one or more formatted messages that are compatible with the external system emulator, sending the one or more formatted messages to the external system emulator, and processing the one or more formatted messages. The present invention also provides a testing system comprising a test data source, a telephone data interface, an external system emulator, a first communications link connecting the test data source to the telephone data interface system, and a second communications link connecting the telephone data interface system to the external system emulator.
