Abstract:

A method for assembling an optical fiber connector comprising providing a one piece housing comprising a tailpiece and a body defining a forward first end, a rearward second end and a passage extending longitudinally therebetween, inserting a spring element into the passage through the forward first end, inserting a subassembly comprising a ferrule, a ferrule holder and a lead-in tube into the passage through the forward first end, maintaining the spring within the passage between a shoulder defined by the one piece housing and a flange of the ferrule holder, and inserting a subassembly retainer into the passage through the forward first end.

Abstract:

Various exemplary embodiments of an optical fiber connector having a one-piece housing are shown and described. The housing includes a tailpiece which extends rearward from a housing body. The tailpiece provides a location for securing strength members which may be associated with an optical fiber or optical fiber cable attached to the optical fiber connector. The tailpiece is integral formed with the housing. Thus, stress applied to the optical fiber at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the connector will not result in a degradation of the connector mechanical or optical performance. The optical fiber connector components are advantageously inserted in the connector housing through the forward end of the housing and retained with a retainer.

Abstract:

A connectivity monitor/controller. A wireless connection is established between a mobile device and a docking station that also communicates with external device(s) each configured to selectably communicate with the mobile device via a connectivity through the docking station or through a direct connection with the mobile device. The docking station receives a connectivity assignment specifying external device(s) and a respective connectivity between the mobile device and the specified external device. Each specified connectivity is established based on the connectivity assignment. A display indicating a connectivity configuration including an indication of each specified external device and an indication of each external device's respective connectivity is generated, where the indication of the respective connectivity indicates either a connectivity through the docking station or a direct connectivity, or both.

Abstract:

A docking station apparatus and method provides wireless power and wireless communications to a mobile device, and provides or establishes connections to one or more external devices such as monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, and networks. In response to detection of the presence of the mobile device, the docking station is enabled to transfer wireless power to the mobile device and communicate wirelessly with the mobile device. The docking station also provides or establishes connections to external devices in response to one or more connectivity assignments.
