Abstract:

A compound including a first bidentate ligand Lthat includes a structure of Formula I,are provided. The ligand Lis coordinated to a metal M and can be joined with other ligands. In Formula I, in addition to some exclusions, each of X, X, X, and Xis C or N; two R, R, and Rcan be joined or fused to form a ring; and each R, R, and Ris independently a group containing the metal M, a hydrogen, or a General Substituent defined herein. Formulations, OLEDs, and consumer products containing the compound are also provided.

A compound comprising a first ligand Lof Formula I,is disclosed. In Formula I, ring A is a 5- or 6-membered ring; K is selected from a direct bond and a linking group; two adjacent ones of Xto Xare CR and are fused to form a structure of Formula II,each of Xto Xis CR or N; X is selected from a variety of linking groups; each R, R′, R″, and Ris hydrogen or a substituent; Lis coordinated to a metal M through the dashed lines in Formula I; and wherein (1) when X is CR′R″, Xis CR; and (2) when X is O, S, Se, or NR′, at least one of the following is true: (a) the metal M is further coordinated to at least one substituted or unsubstituted acetylacetonate ligand; (b) at least one R comprises an electron withdrawing group; (c) at least two Ris not hydrogen or deuterium; or (d) at least one R is selected from a specific group of structures.
