Abstract:

A telemetry system is described including a remote unit having a remote input unit coupled to a remote transmit unit. The remote input unit receives one or more sensor output signals and produces a sensor status signal dependent upon the sensor output signals. The sensor status signal alternates between a first state and a second state, wherein an amount of time the sensor status signal remains in the first state is dependent upon one of the sensor output signals. An amount of time the sensor status signal remains in the second state may depend upon sensor output signals from other sensors. The remote transmit unit receives the sensor status signal and transmits a transmit signal each time the sensor status signal transitions between the first and second states. The transmit signal may be a frequency modulated radio frequency carrier signal including a status portion having direction information indicating a direction of the transition between the first and second states. The transmit signal may also have an identification portion including identification information uniquely identifying the remote unit.

Abstract:

An electronically controlled coin tester which positions a sample coin in a magnetic field then passes a test coin through a similar magnetic field to create a null in a detector coil sensing the fields. The output of a square wave oscillator is differentiated to generate a spiked signal for exciting the magnetic field. The presence of the test coin is detected by sensing the quality of the null and test coin is accepted in response to the duration of the null. Preferably, a capacitor is charged in the absence of the test coin and discharged in the presence of the test coin and the test coin is accepted in response to the amount of energy stored in the capacitor at the time the null is produced. In addition, a pendulum damper is provided for engaging the test coin prior to its entry into the magnetic field and variably retarding the test coin in response to the coin size.

Abstract:

A coil used in electronic coin testers for testing a coin for the purpose of accepting a valid coin or rejecting a counterfeit coin in a coin-operated vending machine, game, telephone or the like is disclosed. A coin slot is provided having two opposing longitudinal walls spaced to accommodate a coin therebetween of either the sample coin type or the test coin type. Within each longitudinal wall a planar looped coil is provided that, upon inducement of an electric current, generates lines of magnetic flux which are normal to the opposing surfaces of the longitudinal walls throughout the length of the longitudinal walls.

Abstract:

An electronically controlled coin tester which distinguishes between valid and invalid coins by subjecting both the token to be tested (test coin) and a fixed reference coin (sample coin) to similar magnetic fields and evaluating the quality of any null signals created by their combined output. A selectively shiftable coin holder is provided which serves to allow replacement of the sample coin as well as to provide a guiding ramp for the test coin which can be selectively set at various inclines dependant upon the size of the coins desired to be tested. The present device may optionally include a pendulum damper which will slow the movement of the test coin as its travels along the guiding ramp, and/or an antistringing device which prevents the removal of a coin from the coin box after acceptance.

Abstract:

A draft monitoring device (10) for measuring and displaying the difference between the air speed and the ground speed of a motor vehicle (12). The draft monitoring device (10) includes a ground speed sensor (30) and an air speed sensor (46). Outputs from the ground speed sensor (30) and the air speed sensor (46) are compared to determine the direction and magnitude of the wind in the environment in which the vehicle (12) is being operated. The respective outputs are compared by a processor (64) carried within a housing (56) mounted inside the vehicle (12) in a position such that the driver of the vehicle (12) may easily view a display (68) carried thereon. The air speed sensor (46) is carried in a substantially undisturbed air stream on the front of the motor vehicle (12). The display panel (68) is provided for displaying the instantaneous, peak, and average headwind or tailwind.

A golf putting system for increasing golf putting acumen includes a transportable golf putting mat manufactured from a carpet-like material and having a top side and a backing, such that the mat can be placed onto the top of existing surfaces to prevent slipping. The golf putting mat contains a layout on the top side made up of a plurality of targets, such as letters, numbers or playing cards, which are separated from the other targets such that a putted golf ball can rest inside any of the separations to distinguish a target. Also included are metal rings, configured to be located inside one or more of the separations to further distinguish the targets from the others. Additionally, a value indicator can be placed on the side of the golf putting matt to assist or revise the scoring of the game, which is played by putting a golf ball on the mat at one or more of the targets.
