Abstract:

The present invention provides a sensing keypad of a portable terminal and its controlling method, comprising: placing at least one sensing unit in the keypad area of the portable terminal to form a sensing surface; placing at least one sensing key on the said sensing surface; when a sensing object moves on the said sensing surface, the said at least one sensing unit generates multidimensional coordinates signal corresponding to trajectory of movement of the said sensing object and makes the said portable terminal to scroll through a list of menu items and to highlight one of them as indication of selection; when the said sensing object further press down a sensing key, the said sensing key generates a corresponding ON/OFF switch signal and makes the said portable terminal to confirm the said selection of the said highlighted menu item. The important benefits of the present invention are: it provides this new menu item scrolling and selecting function while keeping the original physical size of the mobile handset and original functionality of the digit keypad of the mobile handset intact.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a user interface device, method and the portable terminal thereof, comprising: a sensing surface, formed by at least one sensing unit; a sensing keypad, formed by at least one sensing key from placing parts on the said sensing surface; a sensing circuit connected to the said sensing surface; the said sensing circuit generates position signal of a sensing object when the sensing object is in effective sensing range of the said sensing surface; the said sensing circuit also reports ON/OFF status signal of the said sensing key. Abstract:

The present invention provides a method and apparatus of handwriting text input on a portable terminal with a microprocessor, a screen, and a keypad area formed by at least one key, comprising of: Placing at least one sensing unit in the keypad area of the portable terminal to form a sensing surface; Writing, with a sensing object on the said sensing surface, at least partial information of a desired text, to form a trajectory of movement; Generating, via the said sensing unit, multidimensional coordinates data from the said trajectory of movement of the said sensing object on the said sensing surface; Generating, via the microprocessor of the portable terminal processing the said multidimensional coordinates data, at least one text candidate; Displaying at least one of the said at least one text candidate on the screen of the portable terminal; Selecting the said desired text from the said at least one text candidate by pressing at least one of the at least one key in the keypad area of the portable terminal; Displaying the said desired text on the screen of the portable terminal.

Abstract:

A method of performing touch operation on a graphical object on a touch sensitive display of a multi-object touch handheld device is provided. The method comprises detecting the presence of at least two touch input objects; determining one of the touch input objects as pointing at a center of operation; determining a type of operation; and performing the type of operation on the graphical object at the center of operation. A handheld device with at least one processor and at least one type of memory is also provided. Abstract:

An intelligent data management system leverages heterogeneous database technologies and cloud technology to manage data for reservoir simulations across the lifetime of a corresponding energy asset(s) and facilitates access of that data by various consumers despite changing compute platforms and adoption of open source paradigms. The intelligent data management system identifies the various data units that constitute a reservoir simulation output for storage and organization. The intelligent data management system organizes the constituent data units across a file system and object database based on correspondence with different simulation run attributes: project, study, and model. The intelligent data management system also learns to specify or guide configuration of simulation runs.
