About:
Dorothy Hudson brings a unique perspective to Alex MacWilliam Real Estate Inc. She was born of New England parents in Coral Gables, Florida and will tell you that the combination of north meeting south made her "a different kind of kid--a Yankee brought up in South Florida."
She laughs that she is in her third career in real estate – first in land development as Vice President and General Counsel for The Moorings. Second as founder of Dorothy A. Hudson, Chartered, a law firm specializing in real estate and commercial transactions, where she handled thousands of real estate closings along with a wide variety of development issues. And thirdly, after twenty years of owning her real estate law business, she feels that the challenge of being a real estate agent now suits her. "It gets you to do the interactive, fun part of real estate." Hudson is a no nonsense, cut through the red-tape kind of real estate agent who gets her wealth of knowledge from having been a real estate lawyer in her own practice.
Hudson has a BA degree with Honors in Anthropology as well as a law degree from the University of Florida. She spent her senior year before law school studying in Holland to experience a different cultural experience in a unique atmosphere.
She has served on the advisory council to the Indian River Land Trust and it’s Land Committee, and has a deep understanding of the crucial need to balance development with environmental sensitivity to ensure sustainable growth for generations to come. She also served as an adjunct member of the Indian River Community College faculty where she has taught real estate law; the Indian River County Planning and Zoning Commission, The Indian River Board of Zoning Adjustment and Appeals, and the Building Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals.
