Articles Containing Silicone Compositions And Methods Of Making Such Articles
The disclosure is directed to a method of making a silicone composition includes mixing a silicone formulation in a mixing device and adding an in situ adhesion promoter to the mixing device. The disclosure is further directed to articles made from the above-mentioned silicone composition.
Silicone Compositions, Articles, And Methods Of Making Such Silicone Compositions
An article includes a silicone formulation and an in situ softening promoter. The silicone formulation has a shore A durometer and the in situ softening promoter decreases the shore A durometer of the silicone formulation by at least about 35%.
Sealing Assembly And Method Of Making Such Assembly
The disclosure is directed to a sealing assembly. The sealing assembly includes a cap having a top surface and a bottom surface, an adhesive layer adjacent the bottom surface of the cap, and a septum adjacent to the adhesive layer. The adhesive layer includes a self-bonding silicone composition and the septum includes at least one fluoropolymer layer. The disclosure is further directed to methods for making the aforementioned sealing assembly.

Abstract:
In a process for the preparation of a solution of a stable silicone resin comprising SiOunits and units selected from RSiO, RR′SiO, and RR′SiOunits, where R is an alkyl, alkenyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group imparting desired physical or chemical properties to the resin, for example a thermally labile group, and each R′ is a different alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group, or a hydrogen atom, a hydrosiloxane resin comprising HSiOunits and the said units selected from RSiO, RR′SiO, and RR′SiOunits is treated with a base to condense at least some of the HSiOunits to form SiOunits. The base is preferably a solution of an alkali metal salt of a weak acid, such as sodium acetate.

Abstract:
The invention provides reinforced aerogel monoliths as well as fiber reinforced composites thereof for a variety of uses. Compositions and methods of preparing the monoliths and composites are also provided.
A silicone resin, curable to a resin of low coefficient of thermal expansion, high glass transition temperature and high modulus, has the empirical formula (RSiO)(RSiO)(RsiO)(SiO)wherein each R is a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon group or a hydrogen atom; and a=0.02 to 0.8; b=0 to 0.4; and c+d=0.2 to 0.98, where a+b+c+d=1.0, characterized in that at least 2 mole % of the siloxane units in the resin are of the formula R′SiORR′2Sio1/or R′SiOwherein each R′ is an alkenyl group.
