Abstract:

A method for constructing and maintaining a navigation tree based on external document classifiers is provided. In one embodiment, based on the returned category labels from the classifiers, a navigation tree is constructed by taking usability and user preferences into consideration. Control parameters and algorithms are provided for inserting into and deleting documents from the navigation tree, and for splitting and merging nodes of the navigation tree, are provided.

Abstract:

A frequency synthesizer and a method for constructing the same by using the architecture of digital process frequency loop (DPFL) are disclosed. The DPFL frequency synthesizer with the DPFL architecture includes a reference frequency divider counter, an output divider counter, a processor, a memory, a digital to analog converter (DAC), and a voltage Control Oscillator (VCO). The method uses the processor to perform the signal processing to correct the output frequency of the VCO in the frequency domain. The memory stores the nonlinear characteristics of the VCO such that the synthesizer is completely controlled, no uncertain frequency being captured during process, and the frequency resolution of the synthesizer is programmable.

A surveillance system is provided that includes at least one sensor disposed in a security area of a surveillance region to sense an occurrence of a potential security breach event; a plurality of cameras is disposed in the surveillance region; at least one camera of the plurality has a view of the security area and can be configured to automatically gather biometric information concerning at least one subject person in the vicinity of the security area in response to the sensing of a potential security breach event; one or more other of the plurality of cameras can be configured to search for the at least one subject person; a processing system is programmed to produce a subject dossier corresponding to the at least one subject person to match biometric information of one or more persons captured by one or more of the other cameras with corresponding biometric information in the subject dossier.

Abstract:

Techniques are described for obtaining high-resolution physical locations for a wireless device by leveraging the high-resolution physical location capabilities of wireless peers of the wireless device to provide a peer-to-peer location service and facilitate location targeting. Wireless devices provide location updates to a computing cloud, which stores records associating wireless device identifiers with received location information for the corresponding wireless devices. A wireless device issues a peer discovery request to dynamically identify nearby wireless peers in its network. The wireless device then sends wireless device identifiers for the nearby wireless peers in a location request to the computing cloud, which estimates a location for the wireless device using the previously recorded location information for the nearby wireless peers. The computing cloud returns the estimated location to the requesting wireless device.

Abstract:

The present application describes a computer-implemented method and system for obtaining position information for a moving mobile device with increased accuracy and reduced power consumption. The subject of the present application combines information from a GPS location sensor with information from MEMS devices such as an acceleration detector and a gyroscope using statistical analysis techniques such as a Kalman filter to estimate the location of the device with greater accuracy while using numerical methods such as the Newton-Raphson Method to minimize power consumption. Minimizing power consumption is possible because GPS signals sampled at a lower rate can conserve power, while GPS sampled at a lower rate and working together with MEMS devices can achieve the same level of location prediction accuracy as a GPS alone sampled at a higher rate.

Abstract:

Video processing circuitry to adaptively process input video data which corresponds to a plurality of video frames of a selected channel which is one of a plurality of channels of a broadcast spectrum. In one aspect, the video processing circuitry includes spatial adaptation circuitry to generate and output spatially adapted video data corresponding to the plurality of video frames, temporal adaptation circuitry to generate and output temporally adapted video data corresponding to the plurality of video frames, and video manipulation circuitry, coupled to the spatial adaptation circuitry and the temporal adaptation circuitry, to generate output video data corresponding to the plurality of video frames, using the input video data, the spatially adapted video data and the temporally adapted video data.
