Abstract:

Vehicle power steering systems ( and ) achieve substantially linear control relationships between and applied steering torque input Ts and a resulting steering force output, that is, a powered assist to vehicle steering. Impedance matching means utilized for coupling an electric motor ( ) to the steering load respectively include speed reduction means ( ), torque summing means ( ) and force generating means ( ) in the systems ( and ). Abstract:

Aerobic rhythmic running exercise (RRE) is an exercise mode wherein a horizontally disposed participant elevates and lowers his or her limbs alternately in a striding manner against dissipative loading provided by enabling RRE apparatus. RRE comprises safe aerobic exercise for cardiovascularly handicapped heart patients and other participants by substantially supporting or balancing the weight of the limb groups one against the other during the alternate limb elevation and lowering. It is an observed fact that the blood pressure remains near resting values during such aerobic RRE. It has also been observed that RRE allows an athlete to preferentially develop fast twitch muscles useful for enabling improved running speed. Stationary RRE apparatus comprises a supporting tripod structure, and pulley supported leg and arm supporting rope lines coupled to leg and arm drive belts that are, in turn, coupled to leg and arm drive sprockets. The drive sprockets are operatively coupled to either an energy dissipative hydraulic assembly or an energy dissipative electric assembly utilized for providing selected dissipative loading for motions thereof.

Abstract:

Improved low flow impedance flow control valves are disclosed in the present invention wherein spring valve means () captured between a valve spool () and a shoulder () are utilized for selectively metering a flow of fluid from an inlet port () to an outlet port () via a round edged helical orifice () formed between the open coils of the spring valve () as a function of the instant axial position of the valve spool () and the differential pressure therebetween. An improved method of controlling low impedance flow control valves is also disclosed in the present invention. The improved method provides better accuracy in controlling fluid flow through low flow impedance flow control valves through continually cycling a means for substantially interrupting fluid flow therethrough in a low frequency pulse width modulated fashion.

Abstract:

A rupturable closure for use with a flexible container that is especially suited for pouring viscous fluids such as motor oil. The closure is secured to the pouring spout or other dispensing opening of the container and retains the viscous fluid in the container as the container is brought into inverted position for pouring. Notwithstanding the ability of the closure to hold in the viscous fluid, the closure also allows the closure to breathe when the cap is removed so as to relieve small variations in pressure as the flexible container is first grasped for pouring and thereby prevent premature rupture of the closure before or as the container is inverted for pouring. Such a closure includes a membrane secured over the dispensing opening of the container. The membrane has a small primary vent orifice in the region over the dispensing opening that is sized to permit the membrane to breathe. The membrane also has three or more part lines terminating in the primary vent orifice along which the membrane parts when the flexible bottle is squeezed.
