Abstract:

An apparatus (A) for improving the performance of undercabinet lighting includes a housing ( ) that receives a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) ( ). The LEDs serve as the light source and an optical assembly focuses and disperses the LED output to a desired light contour. The undercabinet lighting assembly further includes a switch ( ) formed from a variable resistor adapted to control the level of optical output. The switch is adapted to turn on and off any select number of LEDs. A battery pack ( ) having a battery source is enclosed by the housing for providing back up power and emergency lighting. In a preferred embodiment, the battery source automatically provides power to the undercabinet lighting assembly upon primary power failure.

A lighting control system is coupled to one or more ballast/drivers operating one or more light sources. A low power control module receives analog, digital and/or DALI signals from one or more sources, processes the signals to provide an appropriate lighting response and outputs one or more commands related to light output of the one or more ballast/drivers operating one or more light sources. A gateway component receives wireless signals from the low power control module to relay to one or more control components. The control components provide instruction to modify the light output of the one or more ballast/drivers operating one or more light sources based at least in part upon the one or more commands received from the low power control module and/or the gateway component.

A fluorescent lamp fixture apparatus () and wiring method () are described in which a ballast (B) is located near the fixture center () and high frequency high potential wires (HFW-HFW) extending from the ballast are directly connected to inner lampholders (LH, LH, LH, LH), with low frequency low potential wiring runs (ELFRUN, ELFRUN) extending toward the fixture ends (FE, FE) for connection to outer lampholders (LH-LH) to mitigate capacitive and inductive coupling effects in the fixture.

Abstract:

A ballast assembly for a lamp includes a housing that receives a circuit board assembly therein. The circuit board assembly preferably has first and second board portions disposed in physically spaced, parallel relation. The board portions are interconnected by a conductive member, preferably a flexible conductive member. The spacing between the board portions is preferably substantially identical to a maximum height dimension of a tallest electrical component extending outwardly from one of the first and second board portions. A separate mounting bracket mechanically secures the housing to an associated surface and constrains the housing along at least one of first, second, and third perpendicular axes. Preferably, the mounting bracket is a one-piece construction where first and second ends of the bracket are laterally off-set, and the bracket can also serve as a heat sink to the ballast housing.

A support accessory is provided for an LED lamp, and the support accessory includes a frame and a supporting leg.
