Abstract:
An apparatus is provided to effectively reduce the non-active detection gap between sensor elements of an optical sensor. Reducing the non-active gap can subsequently reduce the time delay between sensor elements, mitigating the image degrading effects of a composite element time delay. While applicable to use with a wide range of optical sensors, the invention may be used for detecting aspects of a variable-rate dynamic colorful object using a matrix sensor or a tri-linear color CCD sensor. In one variation, optical fibers extend from a first fiber optic faceplate to a second fiber optic faceplate. The optical fibers can be oriented toward or directly mounted to the sensor elements. A spacer may be used to separate the optical fibers for alignment with the sensor elements and the other end of the optical fibers are attached to each other.
An antenna comprises a signal radiator, a ground plane spaced apart from the radiator, and a dielectric separator between the radiator and the ground plane. The separator comprises at least two positions having different dielectric constants. In a preferred embodiment, it comprises a material such as FR-4 that has a dielectric constant and a loss tangent substantially higher than those of air and is formed with at least one void reducing the loss tangent of the separator. The antenna strikes an effective compromise between the dielectric constant and loss tangent and is well suited to transmit and receive GPS signals.

Abstract:
A integrated position determination network including a position determination system and a radio relay system is disclosed which locates the precise location of the position determination system. The position determination system incorporates the radio, the power source and the GPS receiver and all necessary electronics into a single housing. Similarly, all of the components of the radio relay are integrated into a single housing. Many of the components of the position determination system and the radio relay system are interchangeable. Thus, a position determination system and radio relay system which use common components is obtained. The use of common components lowers the cost of manufacture and the cost of maintenance. In addition, interchange ability of components allows for great flexibility in designing a GPS network and in performing real time kinematics operations.

Abstract:
An antenna for radiating toroidally is disclosed. The antenna may be fabricated to conform with any size of system. The antenna may be placed around an electronics package or a structure to radiate toroidally around the electronics package or structure. The antenna is formed of a strip of copper which includes a number of slots. The slots are disposed longitudinally within the strip of copper such that, upon the application of power to the copper strip, the antenna radiates toroidally. A method for making an antenna that conforms to the size and shape of a particular system is also disclosed.
