Abstract:

A computing environment comprises a file server, a file system adapted to store software and data and that is adapted to be accessible to the file server and a workstation adapted to couple to the file server and to a client computer. The workstation may be adapted to cause at least some software or data that is not permanently stored on the workstation to be transferred to the workstation from the file system via the file server when requested by the client computer.

Abstract:

In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to a method for managing log files, comprising a configuration file to define log files to be archived, registering an archiving utility with a task scheduling service, traversing directories, by the archiving utility, to locate log files according to the configuration file, copying located log files, by the archiving utility, to corresponding archive files, and deleting content within located log files by the archiving utility.

Abstract:

A method and system for automatically and remotely performing a resource upgrade on a computer system coupled to a central distribution source are disclosed. An install package designated for the destination computer system is deployed from the central distribution source. The install packaged is copied on the computer system and copies an install program associated with the install package on the same machine. Lastly, a resource program upgrade is installed on the computer system using the install program and contents within the install package.
