Abstract:
A system and method for utilizing virtual ports associated with a physical port in a Fibre Channel adapter for use in a clustered storage system is disclosed. A plurality of virtual ports are created and associated with a physical port on a storage system. One of the virtual ports is utilized as a standby port to be used to assume the identity of a port associated with a failed storage system in the cluster. In the event of a failover operation, the standby port is activated and assumes the identity of the failed storage systems port. Data access requests previously directed to the failed storage system are received by the activated virtual port and processed by the surviving storage system.

Abstract:
A heatsink system () is provided for containing and engaging a heatsink () against a heat generating component, typically an IC chip (). The system () includes a rectangular integrally formed resilient frame () defining a cavity () in which the heatsink () is contained. The frame () includes a pair of opposed lateral sides () and a pair of opposing gripping sides () with L-shaped corner blocks () depending from the intersections thereof. The gripping sides () include centrally positioned grip handles () extending upward and grip blocks () depending therefrom, each grip block () having a grip tongue () at the lower extent thereof extending inward into the cavity (). Inward pressure on the grip handles () forces the grip tongues () outward to release objects captured thereby.
A system and method are provided to method and system for portset data management. The system comprises a mass storage device to store a list of portset records; a network drivers layer to receive a request to add a new portset record to a list of portset records; and a portset update component to process the request. A portset may include a set of ports that provides access to logical unit numbers (LUNs). When the system receives a request to add a new portset, the portset update component may determine an available common index for the new portset record, associate the new portset record with the available common index, and update in memory representation of the list of records with the new portset record. The new portset record is then stored at a location on disk associated with the available common index for the new portset record.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for performing electromagnetic interference (EMI) containment in a parallel optical communications system. The apparatus includes a curved surface formed in the system housing near the opening through which a stack of ribbon cables passes, and a spring device. The stack of ribbon cables is sandwiched in between the curved surface of the housing and the spring device. The spring device exerts a force on the stack of ribbon cables that presses the stack against the curved surface of the housing and forms a sharp bend in the stack just before the stack passes through the opening in the housing. Because EMI radiation is restricted to propagation along the sharply bent pathway of the stack of ribbon cables, most or all of the EMI radiation traveling along that pathway is either attenuated or reflected before it reaches the opening.

Abstract:
An embodiment of the invention provides a traversal engine that traverses (walks) through metadata containers (e. g. , inodes) in a file system and determines the metadata containers that have been modified (added, changed, deleted, or renamed) within a particular time interval. A modified metadata container corresponds to a data container (e. g. , file or directory) that has been modified within the particular time interval. The traversal engine records, into a table, information about the modified metadata containers. The traversal engine also records, into the table, parent information corresponding to an immediate parent of a modified data container.
