Abstract:

The present invention relates to methods and compositions for culturing embryonic stem (ES) cells. The methods relate to growing the ES cells in the presence of small molecules of formula (I) that maintain the pluripotency/self-renewal of the cells without feeder cells and LIF in serum-free conditions. These methods in part facilitate much more consistency in embryonic stem cell production, providing, for example, new avenues in the practical applications of embryonic stem cells in regenerative medicine.

Abstract:

Systems, methods, and devices are described for implementing learning algorithms on data sets. A data set may be partitioned into a plurality of data partitions that may be distributed to two or more processors, such as a graphics processing unit. The data partitions may be processed in parallel by each of the processors to determine local counts associated with the data partitions. The local counts may then be aggregated to form a global count that reflects the local counts for the data set. The partitioning may be performed by a data partition algorithm and the processing and the aggregating may be performed by a parallel collapsed Gibbs sampling (CGS) algorithm and/or a parallel collapsed variational Bayesian (CVB) algorithm. In addition, the CGS and/or the CVB algorithms may be associated with the data partition algorithm and may be parallelized to train a latent Dirichlet allocation model.

Abstract:

A server offloads one or more tasks to a first media gateway. The server receives, from the first media gateway that is receiving a video stream of a television channel, a first message that indicates that the first media gateway is eligible to process a request for media content of the television channel that otherwise would be processed by the server. The server receives, from a second media gateway, a request for media content of the television channel. The server transmits, to the second media gateway, a redirection response that instructs the second media gateway to request the media content from the first media gateway.

Abstract:

A system in accordance with an example includes a cluster and a scheduler engine coupled to the cluster. The cluster includes a plurality of nodes, wherein each node includes a faster core and a slower core and the plurality of nodes thereby includes a plurality of faster cores and a plurality of slower cores. The scheduler engine is to create a virtual fast pool and a virtual slow pool. The virtual fast pool includes the faster cores from the nodes and the virtual slow pool includes the slower cores from the nodes. Abstract:

When the social networking system selects an advertisement for presentation to the user by a client device, a content identifier associated with the selected advertisement is stored in an advertisement history associated with the user. When the user performs a conversion event associated with the selected advertisement, the social networking system receives a content identifier and a user identifier from a client device used that performed the conversion event and retrieves the user's advertisement history. If the retrieved advertisement history includes a content identifier for the selected advertisement matching the content identifier received from the client device and a time between the conversion event and providing the selected advertisement to the client device is less than a threshold time period, a fee is determined for presentation of the selected advertisement.
