Abstract:
The invention provides an apparatus and method for orienting a part detached from a web of parts. The apparatus and method use a duct with at least one interior sloped side to orient the part in a substantially vertical orientation. The invention further provides an apparatus for stacking a plurality of flexible circuits. The apparatus includes a container having a contoured end that causes the flexible circuits to stack upon the contoured end.

Abstract:
An imaging inspection apparatus which utilizes a plurality of individual imaging inspection devices (e. g. , X-ray Computer Tomography scanning devices) positioned on a frame for directing beams onto articles having objects therein to detect the objects based on established criteria. The apparatus utilizes a conveyor which is not physically coupled to the frame having the imaging inspection devices to pass the articles along a path of travel to an inspection location within the apparatus, whereupon the inspection devices direct beams onto the article and the beams are detected and output signals provided to a processing and analysis assembly which analyzes the signals and identifies certain objects which meet the criteria.

Abstract:
An x-ray source assembly capable of producing x-rays suitable for use in medical, explosive detection, and other areas. The assembly includes a housing having a two-part socket member (which holds the assembly's x-ray tube therein) positioned therein. The two-part housing defines an opening through with the tube's x-rays are emitted.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a family of devices insertable into a pipe or pipeline for counteracting the force and controlling the rate of flow of a fluid flowing in the pipe or pipeline. The disclosed devices have an overall shape resembling a spear to improve the fluid dynamic performance and are designed to be self-centering in a pipe. The devices can be made from readily available materials using well known manufacturing techniques. Other embodiments showing extensions to the invention are also disclosed.

Abstract:
A transitioning device incorporating a rotatable platform supported on a base and having an elongated straddleable seat supported above the rotatable platform. A mechanism, either manual or powered, is provided to selectively rotate the rotatable base to facilitate moving a user to allow the user to transition from a first location to a second location angularly displaced from the first location. A user may desirably mount the seat when moving in a forward direction. Suitable hand rails and other support structures are provided to assist a user in mount and dismounting the seat. The seat may optionally be removable. Wheels or casters may be provided to facilitate moving the transitioning device. In one embodiment, a propulsion system may be included in the device. The fundamental functional concepts of the transitioning device may be combined with other devices to impart similar mobility benefits thereto.

US Classification:

Abstract:
A connector assembly has a plurality of electrical circuit members and interposer frames with resilient contact members pressed together by a centrally located actuation screw. The actuation screw is supported within a threaded hole in an actuation bar on one side of one of the circuit members. Turning the actuation screw in its threaded hole causes various parts of the connector assembly to be pressed together simultaneously under an evenly distributed load. A load distribution plate located between the actuation screw and the nearest circuit member reduces the bending stresses in that circuit member. Alignment bushings and pins extending through openings in the circuit members maintain the various parts of the assembly in proper alignment while the actuation screw is being turned.

Abstract:
Electrical components such as IC modules and printed circuit boards, at least one of which has an array of solder balls or other protruding conductors, are connected quickly, precisely and economically with a component locator having openings adapted to capture the protruding conductors. The locator is aligned with one of the components, and the other component is pressed against the locator. The protruding conductors enter the capture openings and complete electrical circuits with contacts on the other conductor.
